  1. 6. Robust Aircraft Positioning using Signals of Opportunity with Direction of Arrival

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Reglerteknik

    Author : Erik Axelsson; Sebastian Fagerstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Simultaneous localisation and mapping; direction of arrival; signals of opportunity; extended Kalman filter; positioning;

    Abstract : This thesis considers the problem of using signals of opportunity (SOO) with known direction of arrival (DOA) for aircraft positioning. SOO is a collective name for a wide range of signals not intended for navigation but which can be intercepted by the radar warning system on an aircraft. READ MORE

  2. 7. Exploring patterns in risk factors for bark beetle attack during outbreaks triggered by drought stress with harvester data on attacked trees: A case study in Southeastern Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Nikolaos Kouskoulis; [2023]
    Keywords : Geography; GIS; Geographic Information Science; Forest ecosystems; Bark beetle outbreak; Southeastern Sweden; Predisposing factors; Triggering factors; Drought stress; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT Raising temperatures and climate variability have intensified extreme weather events worldwide. These extremes can enhance and trigger possible pest outbreaks. Bark beetle attacks have become a major concern in regions with extensive spruce forest areas. Southeastern Sweden has faced repeated outbreaks resulting in widespread tree loss. READ MORE

  3. 8. Mapping of Dependent Structural Responses on a Prestressed Concrete Bridge using Machine Learning Regression Analysis and Historical Data : A Comparison of Different Non-linear Regression Approaches

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Author : Vedad Coric; [2023]
    Keywords : Prestressed Concrete Bridges; Structural health Monitoring; Machine Learning; Regression analysis; Infrastructure management;

    Abstract : Prestressed concrete bridges are susceptible to deterioration over time which might significantly affect their capacity and overall performance. In previous decades, infrastructure owners have found that continuous monitoring of these assets is a valuable tool for their management as it facilitates the decision-making process regarding the intervention strategies required. 4. 9. Evaluation of SLAM based mobile laser scanning and terrestrial laser scanning in the Kiruna mine : A comparison between the Emesent Hovermap HF1 mobile laser scanner and the Faro Laser Scanner Focus3D X 330 terrestrial laser scanner

    University essay from Högskolan i Gävle/Samhällsbyggnad

    Author : Claes Gustafsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Terrestrial laser scanning; mobile laser scanning; simultaneous localization and mapping; underground mapping; Kiruna mine.;

    Abstract : The mining industry has over the last few decades seen a drastic increase in the usage of laser scanning technologies as a way of creating 3D maps of the mines being exploited. Underground mapping in places such as mines has become more prevalent as the technology has progressed and made it easier to generate highly detailed point clouds faster. READ MORE

  5. 10. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters.
