  1. 6. Quantum structure of holographic black holes

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Elias Riedel Gårding; [2020]
    Keywords : BTZ spacetime; black hole; wormhole; AdS CFT; holographic renormalisation; analytic continuation; Bogolyubov transformation; QFT in curved spacetime; BTZ-rumtid; svart hål; maskhål; AdS CFT; holografisk renormering; analytisk fortsättning; Bogolyubov-transformation; kvanfältsteori i krökt rumtid;

    Abstract : We study a free quantum scalar field in the BTZ spacetime as a model of the AdS/CFT correspondence for black holes, and show the essential steps in computing Bogolyubov coefficients between modes on either side of the wormhole. As background, we review the BTZ geometry in standard, Kruskal and Poincaré coordinates, holographic renormalisation of the dual field theory and canonical quantisation in curved spacetime. 2. 7. QFT and Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Sheila Chauwinoir; [2020]
    Keywords : quantum field theory; abelian and non-abelian gauge theories; quantum electrodynamics; quantum chromodynamics; electroweak interaction; spontaneous symmetry breaking; higgs mechanism;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to understand the structure of the Standard Model of the particle physics. Therefore quantum field theories (QFT) are studied in the both cases of abelian and non-abelian gauge theories i.e. quantum electrodynamics (QED), quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and electroweak interaction are reviewed. 3. 8. Domain wall solutions in the AdS/CFT correspondence

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Eduardo Mateos González; [2020]
    Keywords : AdS CFT correspondence; BW QFT correspondence;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study a particular realization of the Domain wall/Quantum Field Theory correspondence, a modification of the Anti de-Sitter/Conformal Field Theory correspondence that is used to study deformations of a Conformal Field Theory. In theQuantum gravity side of the duality we analyze a N = 1 gauged supergravity theory in 7 dimensions which presents two different Anti de-Sitter vacua, one of which preserves the full supersymmetry and one that breaks half of the supercharges. 4. 9. Exotic Decays of a Vector-liketop Partner at the LHC

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Alexander Skwarcan-Bidakowski; [2019]
    Keywords : Particle physics; Vector-like quarks; VLQ; Composite Higgs model; CHM; Top-partner; pseudo; Nambu-Goldstone boson; pNGB; NGB; ATLAS; LHC; CMS; Significance; Recast; CheckMate; CM; MadGraph; Pythia; Delphes; Detector; Analysis; Hierarchy Problem; Exotic; Decay; QFT; Quantum Field Theory; fermions; bosons; Jets; photons; leptons; 13 TeV; Missing Transverse Energy; momentum; hypothetical; selection criteria; Standard model; Signal; background; event; Higgs; Mechanism; Simulation; Confidence limit;

    Abstract : An evaluation of how sensitive some ATLAS searches for new physics are to a new beyond standard model (BSM) vector-like quark (VLQ) and a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) scalar. This was done by simulating a signal containing these new particles and making a recast of it onto existing verified ATLAS searches for new physics at center-of-mass (CM) energy of 13 TeV (Run 2) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). 5. 10. Support Vector Machines on Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum Computers

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Jiaying Yang; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Support vector machine algorithms are considered essential for the implementationof automation in a radio access network. Specifically, they are critical inthe prediction of the quality of user experience for video streaming based ondevice and network-level metrics. READ MORE
