  1. 1. Structural analysis of HZO thin film and electrode using X-ray diffraction

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Elliot Winsnes; [2024]
    Keywords : HZO; hafnia; hafnium dioxide; zirconium dioxide; ferroelectricity; ferroelectric; synchrotron radiation; X-ray diffraction; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Since its discovery in 2011, the ferroelectricity of thin films based on HfO2 has been studied intensively. In particular, thin films with a 1:1 ratio of HfO2 and ZrO2 (HZO) has been of great interest. The ferroelectricity arises from a non-centrosymmetric orthorhombic (o) phase of HZO whose prevalence is dependent on the processing conditions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Flashlamp Annealing for Improved Ferroelectric Junctions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Theodor Blom; [2023]
    Keywords : Flashlamp annealing; ferroelectricity; hafnia oxide; III-V semiconductor; thermal annealing; device performance; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The effects of flashlamp annealing (FLA) on the quality of ferroelectric HfxZr1–xO2 (HZO) interfaces, integrated on InAs substrates, are evaluated. For the integration of ferroelectric HZO on III-V semiconductors the crystallization via rapid thermal processing (RTP) can severely degrade the HZO/III-V interface. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluation of whole-body bone scans performed using a gamma camera with Cadmium Zinc Telluride detector

    University essay from

    Author : Victor Asp; [2022-01-13]
    Keywords : Medical physics; whole-body bone scans; gamma camera; Cadmium Zinc Telluride detector;

    Abstract : The bone scan is a common nuclear medicine imaging procedure that is mainly used for evaluating several oncological patient groups. A radioactive tracer, 99mTc -labelled diphosphonate, is injected intravenously and accumulates in the skeleton. The distribution of the tracer in the body is measured with a gamma camera 3 hours post-injection. READ MORE

  4. 4. Exploiting Spatial Redundancy and Approximate Computing for Area Efficient Image Compression

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Saurav Arjun; [2022]
    Keywords : Image Compression; VLSI; Spatial redundancy; DCT; Compression; System Verilog; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Owing to the intensive computation involved in the Discrete Cosine Transform during image com- pression, the design of the efficient hardware architectures for fast computation of the transform has become imperative, especially for real-time applications. Although fast computation techniques have been able to minimise the hardware computation complexity to a certain limit, they could further extend the research to figure out the interesting approaches which can be implemented on applications where power, speed and area are crucial factors to determine the performance of the system. 5. 5. Fabrication and Characterization of Quantum-well Field Effect Transistor

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Yang Fu; [2022]
    Keywords : quantum-well field-effect transistor; InGaAs; subthreshold swing; sheet resistance; contact resistance; electron mobility; Post Metallization Annealing; electrostatic control; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The project aims to optimize the design and fabrication of InGaAs quantum-well field-effect transistor (QW-FET) by investigating transfer and output characteristics of the QW-FET. This work found a lower source/drain contact resistance solution starting with fabricating micrometer-level gate length transistors. READ MORE
