  1. 1. The effect of disorder on the axial anomaly in a lattice model in 1 + 1 dimensions

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Agnes Wattrang; [2023]
    Keywords : Axial anomaly; tight-binding model; semiclassical physics; correlated disorder.; Axial kiral anomali; tätbindningsmodell; semiklassisk fysik; korrelerad oordning;

    Abstract : This work investigates the effect of a disorder potential, that represents impurities/dislocations in the lattice, on the time-dependent signature of the axial anomaly in a one-band tight-binding model in one spatial dimension. The tight-binding model is solved numerically and the simulation results are compared with a semiclassical expression for the time-dependent axial density, n5(t), due to Nielsen and Ninomiya [1]. 2. 2. The Structural Brain Correlates of Psychopathy and Violent Crime

    University essay from Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Author : Zaynab Abas Hashmi; Wilma Pettersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Psychopathy; Antisocial personality disorder; Violent crime; Magnetic resonance imaging;

    Abstract : Psychopathy is a frequently reported personality trait among violent offenders, and psychopaths have a higher rate of recidivism than inmates without psychopathic features. This systematic review aimed to investigate whether structural brain differences, measured with magnetic resonance imaging, are observed in violent offenders with psychopathy compared to violent offenders without psychopathy or healthy non-violent controls. 3. 3. Secondary Traumatic Stress among Swedish Emergency Dispatchers : Symptoms and Consequences of Secondary Traumatic Stress

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för psykologi (PSY)

    Author : Stefan Ferrau; [2022]
    Keywords : Posttraumatic Stress Disorder; Emergency Dispatchers; Secondary Traumatic Stress; Burnout; Depression; Compassion Satisfaction; Posttraumatiskt Stresstillstånd; Nödsamtalsoperatörer; Sekundär Traumatiskt Stress; Utmattning; Depression; Empati Tillfredsställelse;

    Abstract : Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a diagnosis given after the development of maladaptive behavior following exposure to traumatic events. This is the first quantitative study regarding the Swedish emergency dispatching population (n = 97) and posttraumatic (secondary traumatic) stress. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of power-law correlated disorder on a 3D XY model

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Philip Broms; [2022]
    Keywords : Condensed matter physics; Ising model; XY model; Markov Chain Monte Carlo; Phase transition; Disorder; Theoretical physics; Wolff algorithm; Kondenserade materians teori; Isingmodell; XY-modell; Markovkedje-Monte Carlo-metoder; Teoretisk fysik; Oordning; Fasövergångar; Wolffalgoritmen;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the effects of power-law correlated disorder on a three-dimensional XY model and the Weinrib-Halperin disorder relevance criterion’s pre-dictive ability. Ising models are used as a map to realise disorder couplings. READ MORE

  5. 5. Models of superconductors with correlated defects

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Jakob Bolin; [2022]
    Keywords : Quantum phase transition; correlated disorder; 3D XY model; Monte Carlo simulation; worm algorithm; winding number; superfluid density; Kvantfasövergång; korrelerad oordning; 3D XY modell; Monte Carlo simulering; worm algoritmen; vindlingstal; supraledande täthet;

    Abstract : The quantum phase transition between groundstates of a system with correlated disorder near absolute zero is studied. The computations are based on Monte Carlo methods and the worm algorithm which is an effective method to simulate basic models like the Ising and XY model by making use of global Monte Carlo moves given by modified random walks.
