  1. 11. Manufacturing in Europe Vs. North America : A case study of a global manufacturer

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Logistik och verksamhetsledning

    Author : Oskar Högklint; Oscar Bergstrand; [2022]
    Keywords : Supply chain; Logistics; ABC-calculations; Transportation calculations; risks;

    Abstract : Abstract  Purpose – The purpose of this study is to investigate if it is more efficient and effective to manufacture in North America or supply from Europe. This will be calculated with the help of a tool created by the two authors. READ MORE

  2. 12. Economic Effects of Megaprojects on Income Levels - Empirical Evidence from a Case Study of the Channel Tunnel and the United Kingdom

    University essay from Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för nationalekonomi

    Author : Julius Meyer; [2022]
    Keywords : Channel Tunnel; International Fixed Link; Megaproject; Synthetic Control Method; United Kingdom;

    Abstract : Although the number of megaprojects implemented worldwide is increasing, there are still only a few significant international infrastructure megaprojects such as bridges or tunnels between countries. Due to cost explosions and overly optimistic forecasts for the use of bridges or tunnels, cost-benefit analyses often turn out to be negative. READ MORE

  3. 13. Effect of the Cooling Rate and the Surface Film Composition on the Colloidal Stability of Whey Protein Based Emulsions of Triacylglycerols

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Charlotte Schüler; [2022]
    Keywords : Emulsion technology; Fat crystallization; Emulsified triglycerides; Colloid science; Food technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The goal of this project was to investigate the effect and interplay of formulation and processing parameters on the colloidal stability of emulsified triacylglycerols from a product quality perspective. Different methods to quantify and monitor this effect over time were evaluated. READ MORE

  4. 14. Low-Temperature Thermal Control System for an Environmental Chamber

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Rymdteknik

    Author : Aleksis Pauls Lindemanis; [2022]
    Keywords : Space simulator; environmental chamber; thermal control design; thermal conductivity in bolted joints; thermal simulations; Mars climate; Carbon dioxide sublimation and deposition;

    Abstract : In spite of significant reduction of cost associated with launching a spacecraft, launching deep space exploratory missions are yet to be accessible to most universities and researchers. A solution to testing scientific hypotheses and verifying technologies for space is the use of environmental chambers, also know as space simulators, - vacuum chambers, which replicate the space environment. 5. 15. The Relationship Between Vertical Integration and Risk. A Statistical Analysis of Changes in Vertical Integration within Industries Affected by the Global Semiconductor Shortage

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Företagsekonomiska institutionen

    Author : Dorotea Brsakoska; Annika Ebert; Bohdan Pavlov; [2022]
    Keywords : vertical integration; systemic risk; MNCs; semiconductor-reliant industries; semiconductor shortage; TCE; Business and Economics;

    Abstract : Succeeding a brief discussion of what vertical integration (VI) is, its interaction with risk and uncertainty, and the context of this study, namely the COVID-19 pandemic and its simultaneous semiconductor shortages, the purpose of this paper is outlined to fill a research gap regarding an empirically supported relationship between vertical integration and systemic risk. The aim and contribution here is subsequently twofold: to examine whether one can predict strategic trends and behavior among multinational companies when it comes to value chain ownership and control decisions in response to abnormal levels of systemic risk, and, to more generally statistically prove or disprove the seeming theoretical consensus that vertical integration can be a key risk-reduction strategy for various reasons, something that will be detailed and explored more closely in an extensive literature review.
