  1. 1. Phonons in 1-D Graphene Nanoribbons Probed with Raman Spectroscopy : Unraveling Fundamental Properties in 9-atom-wide Graphene Nanoribbons

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Angel Victor Labordet Alvarez; [2023]
    Keywords : 9-armchair graphene nanoribbons 9-AGNRs ; polarization Raman Spectroscopy PRS ; temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy; thermal sensitivity; thermal stability; Grüneisen parameter χ ; anharmonicities; vibrational modes G; D; RBLM .; 9-armchair grafen nanoribbons 9-AGNRs ; polarisation Raman spektroskopi PRS ; temperaturberoende Raman spektroskopi; termisk känslighet; termisk stabilitet; Grüneisen parameter χ ; anharmoniciteter; vibrationslägen G; D; RBLM .;

    Abstract : This report employs advanced Raman spectroscopy techniques to investigate the fundamental properties of 9-AGNRs comprehensively. It is divided into two main sections addressing distinct aspects of 9-AGNR behavior. In the first section, Polarization Raman spectroscopy (PRS) probes phonon mode symmetries in 9-AGNRs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring a Two Higgs Doublet Model with a U(1) Family Symmetry and a Complex Singlet

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Michal Nowak; [2021]
    Keywords : Two Higgs Doublet Model; Complex Singlet Extension; Phenomenology; Physics Beyond the Standard Model; Branco-Grimus-Lavoura Model; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project a two Higgs doublet model with a complex singlet and an extra family symmetry providing a mechanism for suppression of flavor changing neutral currents is explored. The goal is to investigate the phenomenological consistency of the model using a custom software framework. READ MORE

  3. 3. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Keywords : theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field. 4. 4. Kinematisk rörelseanalys av hästar som utför piaff, passage och ökad trav : en jämförelse mellan objektiv mätning och subjektiv bedömning

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Author : Cornelia Andersson; [2020]
    Keywords : kinematisk; rörelseanalys;

    Abstract : Hästens roll i samhället har förändrats genom tiderna. Förr användes hästen mest som dragkraft och som krigshäst. Idag används hästen främst som sport- och tävlingsdjur. READ MORE

  5. 5. Towards the Formation of the Antihydrogen Molecular Ion

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Fysikum

    Author : Thomas Nerdi; [2020]
    Keywords : Antihydrogen; Resonance Scattering; Non-Hermitian Quantum Mechanics;

    Abstract : The ALPHA experiment at CERN is an ongoing project which tests fundamental symmetries between matter and antimatter by producing and trapping antihydrogen atoms in order to perform precision spectroscopic measurements. A logical next step is to form the antihydrogen molecular ion (consisting of one positron and two antiprotons). READ MORE
