  1. 1. Power generation and stability of the Swedish electricity system 2045

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Author : Samir Rawashdeh; [2023]
    Keywords : Duck curve; peak load; capacity factor; availability factor; stability; synthetic inertia; flexibility; ancillary services; solar power; wind power; hydropower; co-generation; heat generation; nuclear power; hydrogen production; electrolysis; fuel cells; V2G; PtG; P2G; P2G2P; ESS; PSH; SMR; NPP; HPP; FFR; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : På grund av energiomställningen, Sveriges mål om att ha en fossilfri elproduktion 2040 samt målet om nettonollutsläpp av växthusgaser 2045 förväntas en omfattande utbyggnad av förnybara energikällor ske. I denna rapport har därför elbehovet, potentialen för elproduktion, möjliga framtida systemproblem samt lösningar undersökts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Performance Evaluation of a High Temperature Borehole Thermal Energy Storage Under Influence of Groundwater Flow

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : Max Hesselbrandt; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Recent years have seen a growing interest in large-scale high-temperature borehole thermal energy storage (HT-BTES) as a means to store industrial waste heat and solar energy between the seasons. A profound understanding and characterization of the thermal and hydraulic processes involved in such systems is required for the optimal design as well as for environmental assessments of the storage. 3. 3. Techno-economic Pricing model for Carbon Neutral Fuels as Seasonal Energy Storage

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Ananya Saraf; [2021]
    Keywords : Hydrogen; seasonal storage; geological storage; carbon-neutral fuels; Vätgas; säsongslagring; geologisk lagring; koldioxidneutrala bränslen;

    Abstract : Green hydrogen produced through electrolysis of excess renewable energy is a promising seasonal energy storage solution with the potential to decarbonize the energy sector. However, it has physical properties that make it difficult to store and transport on a large scale for grid scale storage applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Rock cavern as thermal energy storage

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Energivetenskap

    Author : Simon Berglund; [2020]
    Keywords : Rock cavern; Waste heat; District heating; Intermittent operation; Sustainability; Heat storage; Carbon dioxide reduction; Bergrum; Spillvärme; Fjärrvärme; Intermittent drift; Hållbarhet; Värmelagring; Koldioxid reducering;

    Abstract : In the fall of 2019, a comprehensive idea study was conducted on heat storage in two rock caverns located at Näsudden in Skelleftehamn and was part of the project course "Energiteknik, huvudkurs" at Luleå University of Technology. This idea study investigated the conditions of using waste heat from Boliden AB:s copper smeltery (Rönnskär) and storing this waste heat in two rock caverns and use them as seasonal thermal storage tanks, with the purpose of using the heat in the nearby district heating network, thus replacing some of the oil burned at Rönnskär.
