  1. 1. Vibration-Based Terrain Classification for an Autonomous Truck

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Lucas Lovén; [2022]
    Keywords : Autonomous vehicles; machine learning; surface identification; obstacle identification; signal processing; time series classification; Autonoma fordon; maskininlärning; detektering av underlag; detektering av hinder; signalhantering; tidsserie klassifiering;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on developing vibration based terrain classification for an autonomous mining truck. The goal is to classify between good and bad gravel roads as well as good and bad asphalt roads. Current literature within vibration based terrain classification has been focused to a great extent on smaller research vehicles. READ MORE

    Abstract : This thesis work gives an insight on how to estimate the fatigue damage using transient and spectral fatigue analysis for both uniaxial and multiaxial stress states in case of random vibration base excitation. The transient method involves a rainflow count algorithm that counts the number of cycles causing the fatigue damage, while the spectral method is based on probabilistic assumptions from which an expected value of fatigue damage can be estimated.
