    Abstract : Elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV) has been identified as the cause of rapid onset acute hemorrhagic disease. EEHV infects both Asian (Elephas maximus) and African elephants (Loxodonta africana). The virus has been detected in wild and captive populations.
