  1. 1. Life extension of welded steel details in bridges

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanik

    Author : Zhelei Jin; [2023]
    Keywords : Welded joints; Fatigue; Pre-fatigue; Life extension; Fracture mechanics; Finite element analysis; HFMI; ; Svetsade fogar; utmattning; förutmattning; livsförlängning; frakturmekanik; finit elementanalys; HFMI; ;

    Abstract : High-Frequency Mechanical Impacts (HFMI) is a surface treatment technique utilized to introduce residual stresses and extend the service life of structures. This project primarily focuses on studying the life extension effects of HFMI on welded structures that have undergone fatigue and have existing cracks. READ MORE

  2. 2. Study of Porosity in Uncoated Cemented Carbide Tools During Titanium Alloy Machining.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Industriell Produktion

    Author : Cornelis Botermans; [2023]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : During high speed machining of titanium alloys both the tool and workpiece material diffuse into one another affecting the surface integrity of the cutting tool edge and leading to fracture. One proposed mechanism by which the tool integrity is compromised results from the possible formation of porosity in to subsurface of the tool substrate close to the tool cutting edge. READ MORE

  3. 3. Optimization of an advanced algorithm for bone imaging

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Adam Mrozek; [2022]
    Keywords : osteoporosis; optimization; programming; engineering; X-ray; bone; mineral density; speed; faster; projection; MATLAB; C ; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Fracture risk in osteoporosis is increased and osteoporosis is the most common metabolic bone disease and treatment is expensive. Osteoporosis is diagnosed by measuring Bone Mineral Density (BMD), which does not consider other factors such as bone geometry or architecture. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanical and tribological characterization of additive manufactured Co-alloyed tool steels aimed for cutting tool bodies

    University essay from Högskolan Dalarna/Institutionen för information och teknik

    Author : Jijesh Rajan; [2022]
    Keywords : Maraging steels; Selective laser melting; microstructure; wear; Modified 18Ni300; Osprey MAR;

    Abstract : A drill tool body operates under tough cutting conditions where it is subjected to severe rubbing at the drill flute margin by the sliding chips. The tool wear caused by the contact stresses of the high-speed sliding chips is one of the common damage mechanisms observed in drill tool bodies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Comparing different methods of measuring particle size for pharmaceutical excipients

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Jiawen Wang; [2022]
    Keywords : particle size; comparison; Malvern analysis; Qicpic analysis; Pharmaceutical technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In pharmaceutical science, particle size is one of the most fundamental parameters of materials, but different particle-sizing analysis methods lack a uniform standard for measuring irregular particle size, making it difficult to compare the accuracy and applicability of different particle-sizing analysis methods. Experiments on excipients used in pharmaceuticals are carried out in this paper by laser diffraction analysis (Malvern wet and dry), dynamic image analysis (Qicpic), and microscopic methods (Qicpic, SEM, and light microscopy) to determine the applicability and limitations of each method, as well as to clarify their advantages and disadvantages.
