  1. 11. Evaluation of bank erosion and stability analysis along Rönne å at Ängelholm, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Arnold Mate Kalimukwa; Abuzack Juma Mohamed; [2021]
    Keywords : HEC-RAS; BSTEM; cross section; erosion; sediment transport; deposition; bank stability; safety factor; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This master thesis report presents the results of evaluation of bank erosion and stability analysis along Rönne å (river) at Ängelholm, located in south-west of Sweden within Scania. The main objectives cover building a hydrodynamic model, studying parameters that define sediment transport, modelling sediment transport within the river, mapping out erosive stretches and comparing to earlier observational study conducted by Norconsult in 2013, and finally conducting analysis of bank stability in most erosive stretches. 2. 12. Preliminary Investigation into Quantitation of Pharmaceuticals in Lake Victoria Sediments : Development of a Method for Analysis of 11 Pharmaceuticals

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Tema Miljöförändring

    Author : Robert Lundberg; [2021]
    Keywords : Lake Victoria; pharmaceutical; sediment; core; ASE; SPE; derivatization; GC-MS MS; GC-MS; 210Pb;

    Abstract : Although Lake Victoria is threatened by pollution there is a lack of knowledge about pharmaceuticals contaminants drained into the lake from large cities bordering the lake. Hence, the purpose of this project was to develop, validate and apply a method for analysis of pharmaceutical compounds accumulating in the Lake Victoria sediments. READ MORE

  3. 13. Odensjön - A new varved lake sediment record from southern Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Hanna Hertzman; [2021]
    Keywords : Varved lake sediment; late Holocene; organic sediments; diatoms; land-use history; southern Sweden; palaeolimnology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Annually laminated (varved) sediments provide opportunities to reconstruct climate change and human impact on the environment with high temporal resolution. Depending on the character of the varves, such sediments can provide insight into the delivery of both autochthonous and allochthonous material from the lake and its catch- ment and answer questions regarding both regional and local responses to climate- and land-use changes. 4. 14. Framtidens vattenvård : en kvantifiering av internbelastningen av fosfor i Vansjön och Nordsjön i Norduppland

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Author : Caroline Agrillo; Jens Fölster Jens Fölster; [2021]
    Keywords : fosfor; internbelastning; eutrofiering; syrebrist; aluminiumbehandling; biomanipulation;

    Abstract : En kvantifiering av internbelastningen av fosfor gjordes i de eutrofierade sjöarna Vansjön och Nordsjön i Norduppland genom fysiokemisk mätning av vattnet och fraktionsanalys samt inkuberingsanalys av sediment. Mycket låga syrehalter mättes under vintern 2021 medan vattnet var övermättat på syre under våren detsamma året. READ MORE

  5. 15. Temporal and spatial trends of heavy metal leakage from acid sulfate soils : Leakage of Ni, Zn, Cu and Fe to freshwater and marine sediments, North-eastern Sweden

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Author : Bella Blomkvist; [2020]
    Keywords : acid sulfate soils; leaching; Persöfjärden; sulfide oxidation; metal pollution;

    Abstract : Acid Sulfate soils (AS) are recognized for being a source of acidity in freshwaters in America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Apart from the problematic acid leachate, AS soil serves as a possible source of toxic heavy metals in freshwaters, a problem which has received far less attention than problems related to acid leachate.
