  1. 16. Reinforced Biodegradable Polymer Composite Material based on Japanese Washi Paper

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för kemi - Ångström

    Author : Lovisa Rova; [2022]
    Keywords : biodegradable; polymer; composite; paper-based; washi; poly butylene succinate ; biodegradation;

    Abstract : In this study, traditional Japanese washi paper was sandwiched with poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) in order to produce a paper-based composite material that can be biologically degraded. Specimens were prepared using a hot press, and the mechanical properties of the washi paperand the new composite material were investigated by tensile tests. READ MORE

  2. 17. Design and construction of a new solution for patios and glazing

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Abstract : This thesis work has been conducted in collaboration with SPiNAB. The main assignment has been to create a new solution for adjustable windshields made of glass and keep low production costs. Throughout the project, the generic product development process has been followed with two main sources. A structure and a plan have been executed. READ MORE

  3. 18. Fibre volume fractions’ and printing directions’ effects on tribological and mechanical properties in FDM printed carbon fibre reinforced PEEK : Suitability assessment of FDM printed PEEK-CF to act in a steam engine’s ball joint, by analysis of compressive properties, impact strength, friction and wear

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Author : William Tönnberg; [2022]
    Keywords : Ranotor; steam engine; PEEK; polyether-ether-ketone; carbon fibre reinforced PEEK; impact strength; compressive strength; compressive modulus; friction; wear; tribology; FFF; FDM; 3D-printing; printing parameters;

    Abstract : The purpose with this study was to investigate FDM/FFF manufactured carbon fibre reinforced PEEK and assess its suitability to act as a sealing- and bearing material in a modern steam engine’s ball joint. The steam engine is totally free from oil due to the risk of water- and steam contamination. READ MORE

  4. 19. Optimization of a one-part geopolymerization method for lab-scale, using waste glass wool as a precursor

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Oscar Enander; [2022]
    Keywords : Materials chemistry; Geopolymer; Glass wool; Recycling; Curing time; Curing temperature; Cement; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Geopolymers are amorphous inorganic polymeric structures. They are used as binding agents and can be compared to cementitious materials such as ordinary Portland cement. This thesis aims to produce geopolymers from waste glass wool. Today glass wool is found in isolation, both thermal and sound insulation, and it is not being recycled. READ MORE

  5. 20. Influence of coal particle sizes on the mechanical strength of iron-carbon briquettes : With focus on steelmaking applications

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Daniel Zaharije Hodgson; Efe Karadag; Maxime Pierre Jean-Claude Saillen; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Replacing fossil carbon materials with renewable biocarbon is one way to reduce the net carbon dioxide emissions of the iron and steelmaking industry. Carburization is an important application in the electric arc furnace (EAF), and is mostly achieved by adding fossil-based carbon materials into the melt today. READ MORE
