  1. 1. Study of different methodologies to determine relative dielectric constant of given substrate using fabrication, modelling and measurement strategies

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Anders Lundberg; [2021]
    Keywords : Relative dielectric constant; relative permittivity; PCB substrate material;

    Abstract : In this thesis, different methods for measuring the relative dielectric constant is investigated using simulations and experimental approaches. The first method is known as the S-parameter inversion method. In this method formulae is used to calculate the characteristic impedance of the microstrip line from measured S-parameters. READ MORE

  2. 2. Measurements of resistivity in transformer insulation liquids

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för elektroteknik

    Author : Jonathan Hägerbrand; [2020]
    Keywords : transformer oil; resistivity; ions; ion drift model; HVDC; contact resistance;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on measuring techniques and results of resistivity in four commercially available insulating transformer oils: mineral oil, ester oil and two isoparaffin oils. Two measuring techniques, the industrially used diagnostic system for electrical insulation IDA and the Labview implemented Triangular Method, are used for resistivity measurements and the techniques are compared, a correction algorithm to the triangular method is suggested. 3. 3. Design, Build and Test of planar antennae

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Constantine Ochieng Ayimba; [2016]
    Keywords : antennas; Laser milling; LPKF; Patch antennas; antenna; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Planar antennae have become very popular owing to their relative ease of manufacture and unobtrusive nature (they are conformal to surfaces) especially with regard to certain devices such as smart phones, watches and fitness gadgets. Although the fractional bandwidth of planar antennae is small, the actual bandwidth in absolute terms is high owing to the higher centre frequencies used and proves useful for these applications. 4. 4. Microwave phantoms for Craniotomy and bone defect monitoring

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets elektronik

    Author : Velander Jacob; [2015]
    Keywords : agar; BMP; body morphogenetic protein; bone implant; brain phantom; craniosynostosis; craniotomy; cube phantom; phantom; re-growing bone; skin phantom; skull phantom; tissue;

    Abstract : To facilitate examination for osteogenesis and follow up after craniotomy similar head models called phantoms are made. The head phantom should emulate the tissues from a real head. This requires that the realistic head phantom have the same electrical properties as relative permittivity (dielectric constant) and conductivity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Simulation of Phased Arrays with Rectangular Microstrip Patches on Photonic Crystal Substrates

    University essay from Institutionen för datavetenskap, fysik och matematik, DFM

    Author : Asim Akhtar; Hassan Mateen Alahi; Moeed Sehnan; [2012]
    Keywords : Phased arrays antenna on photonic crystal;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the investigation of photonic crystals as a substrate in microstrip phased array antennas. Alumina with a relative dielectric constant of 9.6 is used as substrate to obtain miniaturization of the components in the high-frequency range. READ MORE
