6. Friction and wear study of lean powder metallurgy steel in a lubricated sliding contact
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskapAbstract : A fairly new technology used to produce metallic components is powder metallurgy (PM). Among the advantages with this technique are decreased cost of production for complex-shaped parts, new alloys are made possible, reduced end processing, less material loss, and vibrational damping effects. 7. Creation of a Technology Independent Design Flow
University essay from Mälardalens högskola/Inbyggda systemAbstract : Modern embedded systems development poses new challenges to a designer due to the global reachability of the contemporary market. One product shipped to different countries or customers should satisfy varying conditions, standards and constraints. Variability of a developed system should be taken into account by a designer. 8. Boric acid as a lubricating additive in fuels and in hydraulic oils
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskapAbstract : Boric acid based fuel and oil additives were investigated in this study, with the aims to gain a deeper understanding of how the boric acid fuel additive behaves, to investigate the effect of low rates of fuel additive addition and tribofilm longevity, and to investigate how boric acid behaves as a hydraulic oil additive. Fuel additive experiments were performed in a reciprocating sliding rig with a cylinder on flat contact geometry with fuel additive sprayed on the contact repeatedly, whereas the hydraulic oil experiments were performed in a reciprocating sliding rig with a ball on flat contact with the oil and additive present from the start. 9. Impact Study: Photo-voltaic Distributed Generation on Power System
University essay from Mälardalens högskola/Akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknikAbstract : The grid-connected photo-voltaic (PV) system is one of the most promising renewable energy solutions which offers many benefits to both the end user and the utility network and thus it has gained the popularity over the last few decades. However, due to the very nature of its invariability and weather dependencies, the large scale integration of this type of distributed generation has created challenges for the network operator while maintaining the quality of the power supply and also for reliable and safe operations of the grids.
