  2. 2. Gender Equal Cities - An empirical analysis of Vienna and Bratislava

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi

    Author : Laura Fritz; [2021]
    Keywords : Gender; Vienna; Bratislava; Gender Equal City; Social Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis set out to examine the level of gender equality in the urban landscapes of Vienna and Bratislava based on the urban experiences on the women living in the cities. Vienna and Bratislava are part of the Vienna-Bratislava metropolitan area, which exhibits not only a close proximity (60km) but also a close economic cooperation. READ MORE

  3. 3. IN-BETWEEN: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT STUDY THROUGH INDUSTRIAL AND EXPERIMENTAL APPROACHES

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Industridesign

    Author : Aymerick Marie-Rose; [2021]
    Keywords : Industrial design; Experimental design; Circular design; breadedEscalope; Production process; Transitional space; Coat rack;

    Abstract : Experimental design is a practice operating at the limit between craftmanship, art and technology. In collaboration with the studio breadeEscalope (Vienna, Austria) this project oscillates between research and production to study the link between industrial and experimental approach to design. 4. 4. The future of urban trees – assessing the potential impact of climate change on urban tree populations in two European cities

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Pia Elverich; [2021]
    Keywords : Physical geography; ecosystem analysis; climate adaptation; urban trees; green infrastructure; urban heat island effect; ecosystem services; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Due to climate change, cities are increasingly facing the situation of being exposed to more frequent and prolonged extreme weather events in the future, such as heat and droughts, which are exacerbated by urban heat island (UHI) effects. The implementation of green infrastructure (GI) in the form of trees is seen as a possible adaptation measure to regulate the microclimate. READ MORE

  5. 5. Accelerating bulk material property prediction using machine learning potentials for molecular dynamics : predicting physical properties of bulk Aluminium and Silicon

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Teoretisk Fysik

    Author : Nicholas Sepp Löfgren; [2021]
    Keywords : machine learning; moment tensor potential; kernel ridge regression; molecular dynamics; density functional theory; materials science; data-driven materials design; maskininlärning; molekylärdynamik; täthetsfunktionalteori; materialvetenskap; datadriven materialdesign;

    Abstract : In this project machine learning (ML) interatomic potentials are trained and used in molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to predict the physical properties of total energy, mean squared displacement (MSD) and specific heat capacity for systems of bulk Aluminium and Silicon. The interatomic potentials investigated are potentials trained using the ML models kernel ridge regression (KRR) and moment tensor potentials (MTPs). READ MORE
