    Abstract : This paper investigates the relationship between firm performance and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) turnover as well as the relationship between firm performance and Chairman of the Board (COB) turnover using both decomposed stock price performance and Return on Equity (ROE) as performance measures. By analysing 220 Swedish listed companies during the time period of 1997 to 2008, we examine whether boards are efficient in replacing CEOs at times of poor company performance as well as if shareholders are efficient in replacing the COB during equally bad times.
