  1. 1. Hydrological catchment analysis from characterisation of organic matter in stream water

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Hannes Berg Wiklund; [2020-02-05]
    Keywords : Organic matter; Time-of-flight mass spectrometry; aquatic chemistry; catchment hydrology;

    Abstract : Organic matter (OM) in aquatic systems is a complex field which have rapidly developed duringthe last decade due to the introduction of high resolution mass spectrometers. The compositionof OM in the aquatic environment is directly dependent on factors such as oxygen supply, pHand the flow rate in the local system. READ MORE

  2. 2. Analysing the controls over DOM quality in two contrasting sub polar marine environments

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Chiara Monforte; [2020]
    Keywords : DOM optical properties; Absorbance; Fluorescence; EEMs; Burdwood Bank; Beagle Channel; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : In this study, Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) quality was analysed through its optical properties. Samples from the estuarine waters of the Beagle Channel and oceanic ones of the Burdwood Bank were examined in order to understand how DOM quality was changing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Assessment of the Contribution of Groundwater Flow and Surface Flow from Bolmsö Island to Lake Bolmen, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teknisk geologi; Lunds universitet/Väg- och vattenbyggnad (CI)

    Author : Angelique Uwera; [2020]
    Keywords : Groundwater; Surface water; GMS-MODFLOW; Bolmsö Island; Lake Bolmen; Brownification.; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The increase of brownification in surface waters has been a problem for rivers and lakes from the northern hemisphere. The main factors of this water brownification are the increase of dissolved organic matter and iron in water bodies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Come/post : A Playful Contribution to Rehabilitate Soil

    University essay from Konstfack/Industridesign

    Author : Björk Gunnbjörnsdóttir; [2020]
    Keywords : design; play; compost; soil; food waste; climate change; consumerism; environmental awareness; food health; circularity; sustainability; hönnun; sjálfbærni; molta; leikur; moltugerð; neysluhyggja; matarsóun; design; kompostering; matavfall; lek; hållbarhet;

    Abstract : In this project I will explore food waste and how we can study and partake in nature’s ecosystem, in our daily lives, using a playful approach. One-third of all food produced in the world is wasted. Our systems encourage consumeristic behaviours and wastefulness, they encourage exponential growth in preference to circularity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sediment chemistry and the potential toxicity to benthic invertebrates in sediments affected by acid sulfate soils : A study on freshwater and marine sediments in Västerbotten, Sweden

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Author : June Johansson; [2020]
    Keywords : Toxicity; Benthic invertebrates; Acid sulfate soils; Sediment chemistry;

    Abstract : The leakages of metals from acid sulfate soils and their potential toxicity to benthic invertebrates were studied in the sediment profiles of Lillkvasjön and Lövselefjärden - a lake and an estuary known to be affected by acid sulfate soils - in Västerbotten, northern Sweden. The concentrations of 25 different elements were analyzed throughout both sediment profiles through X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer analysis. READ MORE
