Abstract: In this report we discuss the use of k-ε RANS (Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations) turbulence model for wind turbine applications. This model has been implemented in the new wind turbine wake CFD code that is being developed at ECN. Simulations of the wind turbine test site EWTW are compared with measurements conducted between 2005 and 2009 and with FarmFlow, ECN's current wind turbine wake code. Based on the results the uncertainties in the current approach are highlighted and areas for possible improvement are discussed.
