Abstract: Sandvik Coromant develops and produces tools used in machining. Chatteris a self-excited vibration in the machine or work piece that can occurduring machining and cause tool damage. New technologies develop thetools with accelerometers, data from the accelerometers can be used topredict tool damage. Algorithms developed by Sandvik Coromant aim topredict tool damage by measuring chatter. This is achieved by applyingfilters to the accelerometer data. It is important that the algorithmsare able to measure chatter while being simple enough to be performed bythe embedded hardware. In this thesis a GUI where different algorithms can be customized andevaluated is created. Data collected from machining where the occurrenceof chatter is known can be uploaded and algorithms can be evaluated withregards to how well chatter is measured. The interface gives indicationsof speed and memory usage and also provides graphical tools to analyzethe algorithms. Two algorithms are evaluated with the help of the created GUI. Thealgorithm using a band-pass and a comb filter was shown to be better atpredicting chatter but also required more memory and took longer time.Tryckt av:
