Abstract: Wildlife vehicle collisions (WVC) are a problem in the world that is costly and can create suffering for the affected. Every year about 65 000 WVC are reported in Sweden only. Fauna passages are built to try to reduce WVC and the fragmentation that road networks make. The aim of this study was to see if fauna bridges influenced the amount of reported WVC, which species were affected and whether the bridge had an impact up to four kilometres. Coordinates for bridges and the WVC were compared. Furthermore, the species in the WVC and distance from the bridge were noted. The results show that reported WVC were higher after the bridges were built than before the bridges. However, trends in the years after the bridges were built show that the number of WVC were declining. The bridges had a positive effect on WVC up to one kilometre. Fallow deer were also less reported in WVC after the bridges were built.
