  1. 1. Design and Implementation of CANopen - SAE J1939 Communication Gateway

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologi

    Author : Peng Sun; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Since the introduction of CAN (Controller Area Network), it has become the de-facto standard communication bus for in-vehicle networks. Several higher layer protocols are developed based on CAN to fit various application domains. SAE J1939 is the standard for communication in heavy-duty vehicles. READ MORE

  2. 2. Network Traffic Regulator for Diagnostic Messages in Modular Product

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för datavetenskap och kommunikation (CSC)

    Author : Nikhil Thakrar; [2017]
    Keywords : Controller Area Network; CAN; Diagnostics; Scania; UDS; KWP; OBD; J1939; Network regulator; bandwidth management; Token Bucket; Traffic shaping; vehicle; bit stuffing; OSI model; arbitration;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis project is to explore a network traffic regulator using bandwidth management techniques that regulates data traffic with the objective to use the network bandwidth to its maximum capacity while ensuring that the network is not overloaded. The bandwidth in the existing network architecture is shared between two co-existing, distinct data flows for on-board communication and diagnostic communication in an in-vehicle network. READ MORE

  3. 3. Network Architecture Recovery and Verification in the context of CAN Communication in Vehicles

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Juan Greco; Behrooz Mokhtari; [2013]
    Keywords : Engineering; Architecture Recovery;

    Abstract : Den ökade funktionaliteten i bilindustrin under de senaste åren har orsakat ökad komplexitet i elektriska och elektroniska (E/E) system. Vanligtvis är funktionerna fördelade över olika elektroniska styrenheter (Electronic Control Units, ECU) och behovet av en stabil kommunikation mellan dem är stort. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modeling Bus Load on CAN

    University essay from Sektionen för Informationsvetenskap, Data– och Elektroteknik (IDE)

    Author : Musab Al Hayani; [2012]
    Keywords : CAN Bus;

    Abstract : The existence of high load and latency in the CAN bus network would indeed lead to a situation where a given message crosses its deadline; this situation would disturb the continuity of the required service as well as activating fault codes due to delay of message delivery, which might lead to system failure. The outcome and goal of this thesis is to research and formulate methods to determine and model busload and latencies, by determining parameters such as alpha and breakdown utilization, which are considered as indications to the start of network breakdown when a given message in a dataset start to introduce latency by crossing its deadline which are totally prohibited in critical real time communications.
