6. Transverse Momentum Spectra in pp collisions (\sqrt{s}\) = 7 TeV and \(\sqrt{s}\) = 13 TeV in ALICE
University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysikAbstract : In this project particle production as a function of transverse momentum (\(p_{\rm T}\)) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy (\(\sqrt{s}\)) of 7 TeV and 13 TeV has been studied. The transverse momentum is interesting to study since it reflects momentum created in the collision (before the collision, all momentum is in the beam - going in a longitudinal direction) and therefore gives information on the collision dynamics. 7. Implementing the chirality-flow formalism for tree-level massless QCD in MadGraph
University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisationAbstract : The chirality-flow formalism provides a simple but efficient way to rewrite and evaluate Feynman diagrams and has recently been shown to also optimize automated numerical scattering matrix element evaluations in massless tree-level QED. In this thesis we extend the numerical QED model to massless tree-level QCD in the MadGraph5_aMC@NLO framework. READ MORE

8. Total Monte Carlo of the fission model in GEF and its influence on the nuclear evaporation in TALYS
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysikAbstract : Features recently added to the nuclear reaction software TALYS allow the use of the GEF model as a fission fragment generator. GEF generates data for fission fragment yields, total excitation energy (TXE), total kinetic energy (TKE) and individual fragment excitation energies (E*) with their standard deviations through Monte Carlo simulations for TALYS. 9. The Contemporary Discourse of American Supervised Injection Facilities : An analysis of the conversation surrounding the implementation of supervised injection facilities in New York City
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Historiska institutionenAbstract : This paper explores the discourse surrounding the introduction of supervised injection facilities (SIF) in New York City following their recent introduction in November 2021. The contemporary debate surrounding SIF in New York is more diverse than may be assumed, even within a seemingly liberal city in the United States, as there are many competing perspectives which make broad categorizations of the discourse difficult. 10. Studying Elliptic Flow in High Centrality Pb-Pb Collisions using Proton Collision Background Fitting
University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysikAbstract : In this report, the elliptic flow in high centrality Pb-Pb collisions is calculated using two particle correlations $v_2\{2\}$ but without any imposed separation in η with data taken from the ALICE experiment at CERN in 2015. Instead, measurements of the same correlations in proton-proton collisions is used as a background to account for non-flow effects and data is correlated between the time projection chamber and the forward multiplicity detectors in order to avoid intra-jet correlations.
