  1. 16. Modeling self-heating and dry matter loss in large-scale biomass storage

    University essay from KTH/Kemiteknik

    Author : Johan Qviström; [2022]
    Keywords : Modell; biomass; storage; self-heating; dry matter loss; Modell; biomassa; förvaring; uppvärmning; torrsubstansförlust;

    Abstract : Materialförluster och självuppvärmning är ett vanligt problem vid lagring av biomassa i stor skala. Biomassan som lagras bryts med tiden ned av mikroorganismer och kemiska processer vilket resulterar i en förlust av torrsubstans, ofta kring 1-4% per månad. READ MORE

  2. 17. Finite Difference Approximations for Wave Propagation

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Tillämpad matematik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Sebastian Lindqvist; [2022]
    Keywords : Finite Difference; Maxwell’s equations; wave propagation; advection equation; partial differential equations;

    Abstract : Finite difference approximations are methods for solving differential equations by approximating derivatives. This work will begin with how to solve a partial differential equation (PDE) called the advection equation, ut + cux = 0. READ MORE

  3. 18. A unified view of a family of soliton equations related to spin Calogero-Moser systems

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Anton Ottosson; [2022]
    Keywords : Soliton equations; Solitons; Integrable systems; Spin Calogero-Moser systems; Exact solutions; Benjamin-Ono-type equations; Solitonekvationer; Solitoner; Integrerbara system; sCM-system; Exakta lösningar; Ekvationer av Benjamin-Ono-typ;

    Abstract : We study the interconnections between the spin Benjamin-Ono (sBO) and half-wave maps (HWM) equations, a pair of nonlinear partial integro-differential equations that have recently been found to permit multi-soliton solutions, where the time evolution of the constituent solitons can be described in terms of the well-known, completely integrable, spin Calogero-Moser (sCM) system. By considering a symmetry transformation of the sCM dynamics we are led to introduce a scale parameter into the sBO equation, yielding what we call the rescaled sBO (rsBO) equation, which has both the sBO and HWM equations as special cases. 4. 19. Jet fragmentation in shaped charges

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Joakim Ericson; [2022]
    Keywords : Shaped charges; numerical simulation; jet fragmentation; Riktad sprängverkan; numerisk simulering; strål-fragmentering;

    Abstract : This master thesis treats the numerical simulation of shaped charge jets and its fragmentation process. Shaped charges is a method to concentrate the effect of an explosive charge and penetrate deeply into a target due to a the formation of a jet with great penetration capabilities. READ MORE

  5. 20. Well-posedness of a class of continuity equations posed in the space of time-dependent Radon measures

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för matematik och datavetenskap (from 2013)

    Author : Erik Lieback; [2022]
    Keywords : Measure solutions; Population dynamics;

    Abstract : We consider a class of partial differential equations whose solutions are elements of a space of measures. The motivation for modeling with measures is that sometimes selection-mutation models or models of for example population dynamics or opinion-formation are designed to describe not functions, but rather evolving distributions which can be described by measures.
