  1. 1. A computational model of metapopulation dynamics and organism-mediated nutrient flow

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Author : Amanda Hansson; [2023-08-07]
    Keywords : computational model; population dynamics; metapopulation dynamics; nutrient flow; simulation; spatially explicit; individual-based;

    Abstract : The aim of this project was to assess, using in-silico experiments, how different life history char-acteristics, such as age at maturity and dispersal ability of individuals, influence the dynamics of a metapopulation. To achieve this, a novel model of a spatially explicit metapopulation, with organ-ism-mediated nutrient flow between fragmented habitat patches, was implemented by means of computer simulations. 2. 2. A spatially explicit model of segregation dynamics : Comparing the Schelling and the Sakoda model

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutet för analytisk sociologi, IAS

    Author : Philip Öberg; [2023]
    Keywords : residential segregation; agent-based modeling ABM ; social simulation; multi-dimensional measurement; multi-scale measurement;

    Abstract : The scientific consensus has for long been that residential segregation is best conceived of as a multidimensional phenomenon that can exist on several geographical scales (Massey & Denton, 1988; Lee et al., 2008; Reardon & O’Sullivan, 2004; Reardon et al., 2008). READ MORE

  3. 3. The natural pest control potential of different landscapes : mapping the ecosystem service in three regions of Sweden

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Charlotte Peitz; [2021]
    Keywords : natural pest control; natural enemies; landscapes; agricultural diversification; pesticide reduction; mapping; ecosystem service; ecological intensification; agroecology;

    Abstract : Natural pest control describes the process of natural enemies suppressing pests and thus reducing crop damage and stabilizing yields. How well these beneficial arthropod predators and parasitoids can thrive in a landscape is influenced by the land-use types in the vicinity, such as forest patches, pastures, or agricultural fields, and their ability to provide resources. 4. 4. A Spatially Explicit Agent-Based Model of Human-Resource Interaction on Easter Island

    University essay from KTH/Numerisk analys, NA

    Author : Peter Steiglechner; [2020]
    Keywords : Agent-based modelling; applied mathematics; socio-economic modelling; Agentbaserad modellering; tillämpad matematik; socioekonomisk modellering;

    Abstract : The history of Easter Island, with its cultural and ecological mysteries, has attracted the interests of archaeologists, anthropologists, ecologists, and economists alike. Despite the great scientific efforts, uncertainties in the available archaeological and palynological data leave a number of critical issues unsolved and open to debate. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigation of Impact Parameter Profiles in Multi-Parton Interactions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Martin Korsfeldt; [2020]
    Keywords : Angantyr; Impact Parameter; Multiparton Interaction; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to implement an alternative method to calculate the overlap function, which describe to what extent two protons overlap with each other spatially, into PYTHIA8 in order to determine how it affected the average number of multiparton interactions. The new overlap function is based on an explicit impact parameter picture, whereas PYTHIA8s overlap function uses an implicit impact parameter picture. READ MORE
