11. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID
University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 12. Generative Adversarial Networks in Lip-Synchronized Deepfakes for Personalized Video Messages
University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik LTHAbstract : The recent progress of deep learning has enabled more powerful frameworks to create good-quality deepfakes. Deepfakes, which are mostly known for malicious purposes, have great potential to be useful in areas such as the movie industry, education, and personalized messaging. READ MORE

13. AI-Driven Image Manipulation : Image Outpainting Applied on Fashion Images
University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknikAbstract : The e-commerce industry frequently has to deal with displaying product images in a website where the images are provided by the selling partners. The images in question can have drastically different aspect ratios and resolutions which makes it harder to present them while maintaining a coherent user experience. READ MORE

14. Investigating the Learning Behavior of Generative Adversarial Networks
University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Abstract : Since their introduction in 2014, generative adversarial networks (GANs) have quickly become one of the most popular and successful frameworks for training deep generative models. GANs have shown exceptional results on different image generation tasks and they are known for their ability to produce realistic high- resolution images. READ MORE

15. Replicating noise in video : a comparison between physics-based and deep learning models for simulating noise
University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Abstract : Algorithms that track objects in video following Newtonian physics can often be affected by noise in the data. Some types of noise might be hard or expensive to capture, so to be able to augment or generate a new data set from models replicating a certain type of noise can be useful. READ MORE
