  1. 1. Neuroprotective effects of magnesium sulphate evaluated by fluoride resistant acid phosphatase, inorganic phosphate, lactate dehydrogenase and nitric oxide in rats with ischemia

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsa

    Author : Maria Dorelis Montero Jimenez; [2020]
    Keywords : Biomarker; Magnesium; Neuroprotection; Respiratory arrest.;

    Abstract : Brain ischemia events are among the first three mortalities causes in the world associated with high treatments costs and in most cases some degree of permanent functional disability, thus it is necessary with new low cost and effective treatments. In the present study the potential neuroprotective effect of magnesium sulphate was evaluated by quantification of ischemic biomarkers: fluoride resistant acid phosphatase (FRAP), inorganic phosphate (Pi), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and nitric oxide (NO) in rats with global ischemia. 2. 2. Identification of Phenolic Compounds in Quinoa Milk Fermented with Lactic Acid Bacteria Strains

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel

    Author : Tawanda Mandoga; [2018]
    Keywords : Inocolum; Fermented quinoa milk; Polyphenols compounds; Antioxidant evaluation; Food technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Phenolic compounds, abundant in plants, are of significant interest and are increasingly becoming a subject of intensive research due to their bioactive properties such as antioxidant activity. The objective of this study was to identify phenolic compounds present in formulated quinoa milk fermented by two probiotic bacteria strains; Lactobacillus pentosus and Pediococcus pentosaceous by HPLC and evaluate their antioxidant capacity. 3. 3. Investigating the effect of salt concentrations on the immune cell membrane protein CD45 D1-D4 in a supported lipid bilayer using hydrodynamic trapping

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Carl Eric Onema; [2017]
    Keywords : Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The immune system is a very complex system, aimed to protect the body from the many dangers that loom around us. A well-functioning immune system can fight of most invaders, remove foreign particles that entered our bodies, and take care of dead cells. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lipid Bilayers on Planes and in Micropipettes - Two model systems to study binding of DivIVA to flat and negatively curved membranes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysikalisk kemi; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Elisabeth Baumann; [2016]
    Keywords : supported lipid bilayer; DivIVA; curvature; TIRF; FRAP; epifluorescence microscopy; micropipette; model system; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to form and characterize model systems of cell membranes on planar supports and in micropipettes. Firstly, supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) were formed on glass slides after an existing experimental procedure. READ MORE

  5. 5. Restriction in the membrane diffusion over the dividing septum of Escherichia Coli cells measured by  Flourescence Recovery After Photobleaching

    University essay from KTH/Experimentell biomolekylär fysik

    Author : Bill Söderström; [2011]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This diploma thesis is a follow up work of a previous paper by Johan Strömqvist et. al. [1] In their article they presented a novel method on how to determine the Z-ring radius and the contraction in dividing Escherichia coli. This was done by fluorescent recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) measurements in the cytosol of E. READ MORE
