  1. 1. Generation of Synthetic Data with Generative Adversarial Networks

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Douglas Garcia Torres; [2018]
    Keywords : Synthetic Data Generation; Generative Adversarial Networks; Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Neural Networks; Syntetisk Datagenerering; Generativa Adversariella Nätverk; Maskin-lärande; Djupt Lärande; Neurala Nätverk.;

    Abstract : The aim of synthetic data generation is to provide data that is not real for cases where the use of real data is somehow limited. For example, when there is a need for larger volumes of data, when the data is sensitive to use, or simply when it is hard to get access to the real data. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quantum Computational Speedup For The Minesweeper Problem

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik; Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Olof Terner; Villhelm Urpi Hedbjörk; [2017]
    Keywords : Minesweeper; quantum computing;

    Abstract : Quantum computing is a young but intriguing field of science. It combines quantum mechanics with information theory and computer science to potentially solve certain formerly computationally expensive tasks more efficiently. Classical computers are based on bits that can take on the value zero or one. READ MORE

  3. 3. Distributed Graph Mining : A study of performance advantages in distributed data mining paradigms when processing graphs using PageRank on a single node cluster

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för datavetenskap och kommunikation (CSC); KTH/Skolan för datavetenskap och kommunikation (CSC)

    Author : Alan Abdlwafa; Henrik Edman; [2015]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Distributed data mining is a relatively new area within computer science that is steadily growing, emerging from the demands of being able to gather and process various distributed data by utilising clusters. This report presents the properties of graph structured data and what paradigms to use for efficiently processing the data type, based on comprehensive theoretical studies applied on practical tests performed on a single node cluster. 4. 4. Public and Private Schools in Afghanistan : Comparing some aspects of public and private schools in Kabul city

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Karlstads universitet

    Author : Kulsoom Saffarudin Sherani; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this study is to explore similarities and differences between private and public schools in Kabul city. Data was collected using questioner and structured interviews. Principals, teachers, parents and students of grade six were the participants of the research. READ MORE

  5. 5. R&D Efficiency in China: Can State-owned Firms Compete?

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Author : John Boylston; [2013]
    Keywords : China; R D; R D Efficiency; Aerospace; Data Envelopment Analysis; SOE; Business and Economics;

    Abstract : Can state-owned firms’ R&D compete with that of more nimble private and foreign innovator firms? This paper analyzes R&D efficiency in China’s high tech industries (i) theoretically, based on previous studies, and (ii) empirically, through Data Envelopment Analysis under both Constant and Variable Returns to Scale. Though Chinese state-owned firms can theoretically be R&D efficient in industries where the underlying science is well understood, a myriad of factors including persistent soft budget constraints and policy burdens mitigate the potential advantages – bureaucratic pre-screening and access to finance – that characterize state-owned firms.
