  1. 1. Multiscale & Multiphysics Modelling of Thrust Pad (Air) Bearings

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Nipon Roy; [2023]
    Keywords : Finite element modelling; Air bearing; Multiphysics simulations; Air lubrication; surface texture; Topology optimization;

    Abstract : Without lubrication, machines are not imaginable to perform over a long period of time and complete their designated operations. With its omnipresent availability, the air is capable of functioning as a lubricant in long operations very efficiently. Moreover, thrust bearings support axial loads and transmit power at the same time under heavy loads. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of alkaline earth metal-based, metal-organic frameworks for greenhouse gas sorption

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för materialvetenskap

    Author : Ali Maghsoodpoor; [2022]
    Keywords : Metal-organic Framework; gas sorption;

    Abstract : Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) constructed from metal atoms connected by organic linkers have received extensive attention for greenhouse gas separation in the past decades. Moreover, their large surface area makes them a promising candidate as adsorbents for gas sorption. READ MORE

  3. 3. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Arvid Lindmark; [2022]
    Keywords : Beer; Hops; Thiols; 3MHA; 4MMP; Food Technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 4. 4. IMPLEMENTATION OF OXYFUEL COMBUSTION IN A WASTE INCINERATION CHP PLANT : A Techno-Economic Assessment

    University essay from Mälardalens högskola/Akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknik

    Author : Mostafa Saleh; Anton Hedén Sandberg; [2021]
    Keywords : CCS; Oxyfuel Combustion; Carbon Capture; Gas Separation Techniques; Waste Combustion; Cost Assessment of CCS; ASU; CPU; Wet-FGR; Dry-FGR;

    Abstract : Global energy demand is predicted to rise in the coming decades, necessitating a shift to renewable energy sources to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. However, due to the inability to supply renewable energy around the clock, it is estimated that only by adding an important technology, carbon capture and storage (CCS), it could be possible to reduce 80% of the 1990s greenhouse gas emissions. 5. 5. Recycling Waste Solar Panels (c-Si & CdTe) in Sweden

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för byggd miljö och energiteknik (BET)

    Author : Alireza Nekouaslazadeh; [2021]
    Keywords : PV panels; Environmental impacts; Economical impacts; c-Si; CdTe; Solar modules recycling center; Critical materials; Delamination; Material separation;

    Abstract : Solar energy industries are one of the fastest-growing industries in the global energy market. Between 2018 and 2019, installed capacity in Sweden increased by 70%. This is due to a combination of declining PV module and inverter costs, as well as  increased conversion to fossil-free energy production to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. READ MORE
