  1. 11. Coastal evolution at Macaneta spit, Mozambique - an analysis of longshore and cross-shore processes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Christofer Karlsson; Johan Liljedahl; [2015]
    Keywords : Macaneta spit; Maputo; Mozambique; overwash; erosion; breaching; cross-shore modeling; longshore modeling; EBED; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Macaneta spit is located about 30km north of Maputo, Mozambique, with the Indian Ocean on the east side and Incomáti River on the west side of the spit, composing an interesting and vulnerable area from a hydrodynamic point of view. Few studies regarding coastal processes are done in the area and changes of the morphology could result in breaching of the spit and thereby affect both accessibility to the spit and the water supply for irrigation in the region. 2. 12. Two-dimensional hydrodynamic modeling of overland flow and infiltration in a sustainable drainage system

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; Lunds universitet/Ekosystemteknik (CI)

    Author : Karl Gunnarsson; [2015]
    Keywords : infiltration modeling; MIKE 21; rainfall-runoff modeling; SUDS; urban hydrology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : As a part of the GrönNano project at Luleå University of Technology, a sustainable drainage system, composed of infiltration surfaces and a wale,has been subject to hydrological measurements and modeling. The aim of this study was to identify the conditions under which it is possible to model the hydrological processes of that system adequately, using the two-dimensional hydrodynamic modeling software MIKE 21 equipped with an infiltration and leakage module. 3. 13. Hydrodynamic Modeling of the Mundaú-Manguaba Estuarine-Lagoon System, Brazil

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Staffan Nilsson; Linnea Larsson; [2014]
    Keywords : MMELS; CELMM; IPH-ECO; Mundaú lagoon; Manguaba lagoon; choked lagoon; Maceió; hydrodynamic modeling; water quality forecasting; Aqua troll 200; bathymetry; water exchange; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Background Lagoons are shallow coastal water bodies which occupy 13 % of the world’s total coastlines. Healthy lagoons have a rich aquatic fauna and can provide an economic benefit for the people living in its vicinity. Due to anthropogenic activities, the water quality in many lagoons is deteriorating. READ MORE

  4. 14. Modeling, Simulation and Dynamic control of a Wave Energy Converter

    University essay from KTH/Numerisk analys, NA

    Author : Maria Bånkestad; [2013]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The energy in ocean waves is a renewable energy resource not yet fully exploited. Research in converting ocean energy to useful electricity has been ongoing for about 40 years, but no one has so far succeed to do it at sufficiently low cost. CorPower Ocean has developed a method, which in theory can achieve this. READ MORE

  5. 15. Modelling of Elastic Ship in Waves

    University essay from KTH/Marina system

    Author : Manohara Ranganath Draksharam; [2012]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ships in the seas undergo different distortions like bending, twisting or combined bending and twisting. The demand for increase in length and speed of the ships is increasing due to this the study for flexibility of structures is becoming important. READ MORE
