  1. 21. A model for immunotherapies against small, solid and motile tumors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Emelie Flood; [2014]
    Keywords : Cancer; tumor; agent based model; delay differential equation; immunotherapy; Matlab; computations; CTL; cell motility; adhesion; repulsion; Metropolis algorithm.; Medicine and Health Sciences; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Most of all deaths from cancer are due to tumor metastasis, specifically 9 out of 10. Metastasis is associated with a number of factors, including cancer cell motility, tumor adhesive property and cancer shape. As a result, the dynamics, development and consequent prognosis of tumors are still not well characterized. READ MORE

  2. 22. Efficient Online Smoothing in General Hidden Markov Models

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Johan Westerborn; [2012]
    Keywords : Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses the problem of estimating smoothed expectations of sums of additive functionals of sequences of hidden states in general hidden Markov models. To compute expectations of this sort, the smoothing distribution, i.e. the conditional distribution of the hidden states given the corresponding observations, needs to be approximated. READ MORE

  3. 23. Using Approximative Methods in Riemann Manifold Metropolis Adjusted Langevin Algorithm

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Filip Erntell; [2012]
    Keywords : Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : When sampling from target densities with high correlation using the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm, performance can be improved by considering a discretization of a Langevin diffusion defined on the Riemann manifold as proposal mechanism. Through the metric tensor of the manifold, it is possible to capture the curvature of the parameter space and adjust for the correlation and differences in magnitude of variance. READ MORE
