  1. 11. Generation of attosecond X-ray pulses in free-electron lasers using electron energy modulation and undulator tapering

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/FREIA

    Author : Karl-Fredrik Boholm Kylesten; [2023]
    Keywords : attosecond; free-electron laser; XFEL; self-amplified spontaneous emission; SASE; tapering; energy modulation;

    Abstract : Free-electron lasers (FELs) are among the world's most intense artificial artificial sources of coherent light and are tunable to various wavelengths, including the X-ray spectrum. X-ray FELs (XFELs) are extremely useful for diffraction experiments to study molecules, materials, and quantum systems. READ MORE

  2. 12. Experimental studies of radiation damage in uranium nitride

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Maria Giamouridou; [2023]
    Keywords : uranium nitride nuclear fuel; advanced nuclear fuel; uranium nitride fabrication; uranium nitride characterisation; Spark Plasma Sintering; proton irradiation; irradiation damage; TANDEM accelerator; irradiation induced cracking; irradiation induced hardening; irradiation induced swelling; hydrogen implantation; dislocation loops; kärnbränsle av urannitrid; avancerat kärnbränsle; tillverkning av urannitrid; karakterisering av urannitrid; Spark Plasma Sintering; protonbestrålning; strålningsskador; TANDEM-accelerator; strålningsinducerad sprickbildning; strålningsinducerad härdning; strålningsinducerad svällning; väteimplantation; dislokationsloopar;

    Abstract : The effect of proton (H+) irradiation on uranium mononitride (UN) and UN compositefuel with 10 at.% ZrN (UN10at%ZrN) was examined. Protons of 2 MeV with fluences of1E17, 1E18, 1E19 and 1E20 ions/cm2 were accelerated towards the fabricated samples in orderto investigate the evolution of the micro-structure. READ MORE

  3. 13. Additively Manufactured Rare Earth Free Permanent Magnets

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap; Uppsala universitet/Oorganisk kemi

    Author : Himesha Abenayake; [2023]
    Keywords : additive manufacturing; MnAl; MnAl C ; rare earth free permanent magnets; selective laser melting; SLM; MnAl-based permanent magnets;

    Abstract : It’s well known that MnAl(C) material consists of a metastable phase (τ) with promising ferromagnetic properties, produced either by controlled cooling from the high-temperature hexagonal ε-phase or rapid cooling that freezes the ε-phase followed by low-temperature annealing. Due to the high cooling rates involved, additive manufacturing (AM) especially selective laser melting (SLM), has been identified as a possible method to retain the high-temperature ε-phase, hence containing a potential capacity to produce permanent magnets upon low-temperature annealing. 4. 14. Heteroepitaxial Growth of GaN Film on Si substrate by Magnetron Sputtering

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Zahra Mohammadianrasnani; [2023]
    Keywords : GaN; Sputter epitaxy; Thin film;

    Abstract : In this study, the effect of AlN buffer layer structure and morphology on the GaN films deposited on Si (111) substrate by reactive DC magnetron sputtering have been studied. For structural and morphological characterization X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used. READ MORE

  5. 15. Fabrication and characterization of GaAsxP1-x single junction solar cell on Si for III-V/Si tandem solar cell

    University essay from KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Author : Elaheh Aghajafari; [2023]
    Keywords : III-V semiconductor; GaAsxP1-x heteroeputaxy; hydride vapor phase epitaxy; III-V Si solar cell; III-V halvledare; GaAsxP1-x epitaxiallager; hydridångfasepitaxi; III-V Si solcell;

    Abstract : Silicon based solar cells have been used as photovoltaic devices for decades due to reasonable cost and environment- friendly nature of silicon. But the conversion efficiency of silicon solar cell is limited; for instance, the maximum conversion efficiency of a crystalline silicon solar cell available in the market developed by Kaneka Corporation is 26 % [1].
