  1. 21. Performance Analysis of Unskewed Asymmetrical Rotor for LV Induction Motors

    University essay from KTH/Elektrisk energiomvandling

    Author : Usman Shaukat; [2012]
    Keywords : Induction motor; skewed rotor; inter-bar currents; starting performance; asymmetrical rotor slots; 2D FEM; synchronous torques.;

    Abstract : This master thesis presents a comparative analysis of the starting performance and losses at rated operation for a 15 kW, 4-pole industrial induction motor, mounted with standard skewed, unskewed and unskewed asymmetrical die-cast aluminium rotors through measurements and simulations. It is a well-known fact that rotor skewing suppresses the synchronous torques at low speeds and also reduces the audible noise of the machine. READ MORE

  2. 22. Evaluation of Economical Impact of Energy Optimization Functions in VFDs for Industrial Applications

    University essay from KTH/Elektrisk energiomvandling

    Author : Qiang Dong; [2011]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Electric motor systems are the most important types of loads which consume up to 70% of total consumed electricity in industry, so the reduction of energy  consumption in electric motor systems has become an important goal for all countries. In many of these applications, big energy savings are possible if the motors operate at variable speeds rather than at a fixed speed. READ MORE

  3. 23. Control induction motor by frequency converter : Simulation electric vehicle

    University essay from Energiteknik

    Author : Jan Druyts; [2010]
    Keywords : electric vehicle; inverter; converter; induction motor; rectifier;

    Abstract : Summary  Today we are probably on a point of change for the car industry. The last century was the century of vehicles with internal combustion engines. Fossil fuels were relative cheap, easy accessible and they have a high specific energy. The pollution and dependency on oil caused the last decade an increasing demand for alternatives. READ MORE

  4. 24. Simulation and Analysis of a Power Supply Circuit for Frequency Inverter Controlled AC-Induction Motors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för reglerteknik

    Author : Meike Stemmann; [2009]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : For variable-frequency drives, the most common way to apply the desired power to an electrical motor is using PWM modulated signals. Due to high-frequency components, those signals give rise to reflections in the motor cables, radiated noise around the cables and acoustic noise in the motor. READ MORE
