  1. 11. Performance and Wear Behaviour of Coated and Uncoated Cemented Carbide Tools during Milling of Titanium Alloys

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Industriell Produktion

    Author : Juan Manuel Bello Bermejo; [2022]
    Keywords : Titanium alloys; milling; wear mechanisms; wear behaviour; cutting tool performance.; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Purpose – The purpose of this project is to study the performance of uncoated versus coated cemented carbide tools when performing milling operations in heat treated titanium alloys, with the goal of establishing a base line of knowledge and methodology linked to these difficult-to-machine materials relevant for the metal cutting industry. Design/methodology/approach – The work that is carried out in this project comprise both literature review, that is presented as the state of the art as the necessary theoretical background to understand what is done; and experiments, that were designed and executed at Seco Tools in Fagersta in order to achieve the primary goal, testing and comparing different scenarios where cutting parameters played a key role. 2. 12. Mineralogical characterization of gold in the Aurora ore zone in the Björkdal gold mine, northern Sweden – implications for metal recovery

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Krister Åström; [2022]
    Keywords : geology; Björkdal gold deposit; Skellefte district; gold; Au; Aurora ore zone; metal recovery; cold mounting; SEM; QEMSCAN; mineral association; grain size;

    Abstract : The Aurora zone is an ore zone which was recently discovered in the Björkdal gold mine, northern Sweden, and it has been the main focus of mining and exploration activities for the past few years (Pressacco et al., 2020). The purpose of this project is to determine how gold occurs in the Aurora zone. READ MORE

  3. 13. Enamelled steel

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Steneby - Institutionen för Konsthantverk och Design

    Author : Johannes Postlmayr; [2021-01-05]
    Keywords : Enamelled Steel; Glass on metal; Enamel; Emaille; Emalj; Enamelware; Kitchenware; Householdware; Hollowware; Public health; Lead-poisoning; Industrial Revolution; Design; Functionalism; Gestaltung; Gestaltning; Contemporary Sculpture; Applied craft; Object art; CAD; CNC water-jet cutting; Augmented reality;

    Abstract : This exam project is about a material that developed with the rise of the industrial revolution, became almost obsolete in recent decades, and that I now use in the field of applied art, craft, and design. Enamelled steel is a material mostly known for its use in domestic kitchenware and colourful road and advertising signs. READ MORE

  4. 14. Mechanical and tribological characterization of additivemanufactured Co-free tool steels aimed for cutting tool bodies

    University essay from Högskolan Dalarna/Institutionen för information och teknik

    Author : Mayur Mane; [2021]
    Keywords : Co-free maraging steels; Co-free W360 AMPO alloy; hot-work tool steel; Selective laser melting; microstructure; wear;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is an emerging and interesting technology that enables some of theproduct development projects (PDPs) to produce products that have mechanical and tribologicalproperties comparable to products that are conventionally manufactured. Selective laser melting(SLM) is an additive manufacturing technology that is predominantly used for the production of metalbased components (i. READ MORE

  5. 15. Multivariate Data Analysis on (Ti,Al)N Arc-PVD coating process : MVDA of the growth parameters thickness, stress,composition, and cutting performance

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Oorganisk kemi

    Author : Per-Olof Öqvist; [2021]
    Keywords : chemistry; material; coating; statistics; PLS; PCA; kemi; material; beläggning; statistik; PLS; PCA;

    Abstract : This diploma work was done at Seco Tools AB (SECO) in Fagersta and aimed to evaluate the possibility to model the relationship between deposition data, deposition properties and, cutting performance of a (Ti,Al)N coating on cutting inserts by applying the Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA) modeling technique Partial Least Squares Projection to Latent Structures Modeling (PLS). Cathodic Arc Deposition (Arc-PVD) was the PVD technique focused on this study. READ MORE
