  1. 6. Interaction for flexural column buckling : Analytical procedures compared with FE-simulations

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Noah Norberg; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This master's thesis presents a study on the stability of steel structures under flexural bucklingconstraints. The study focuses on the interaction and behaviour of flexural buckling formulas in SSEN-1993-1-1 and Swedish BSK and the performance of actual structural members subjected to suchconstraints. 2. 7. Simulations of a self-stabilizing fully submerged hydrofoil

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Henry Jacobson; [2023]
    Keywords : Hydrofoil; Self-Stabilizing; Lifting Line Theory; Fluid Mechanics; Numerical Methods; Backward Differentiation Formula; Fully Submerged Hydrofoil; Bärplan; bärplansbåt; självstabiliserande; lyftande linjeteori; strömningsme- kanik; numeriska metoder; Backward Differentiation Formula; fullt nedsänkt bärplan;

    Abstract : Two models of a self-stabilizing hydrofoil system is developed where the effects from the struts and hydrofoil give torques for angular rotations. Lifting line theory for the hydrofoil which can twist is used. Nonlinear versions of the models are also developed and compared to find that the linear models use valid approximations. READ MORE

  3. 8. Probabilistic Added Wave Resistance Predictions for Design of RoPax Ferries

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanik

    Author : Jonathan Viinikka; [2023]
    Keywords : Added wave resistance in head waves; Roll-on Roll-off Passenger ferry; Probabilistic wave environment; Semi-empirical method; Adderat vågmotstånd i motsjö; Roll-on Roll-off Passagerar Fartyg; Probabilistiska vågförhållanden; Semiempiriska beräkningsmethoder;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates reasons for significant uncertainties in added wave resistance predictionsand how wave conditions can potentially affect the design of RoPax ferries. The objectiveis to find a suitable prediction method of added wave resistance for the RoPax ferry designapplication. READ MORE

  4. 9. A theoretical framework for interpretation and prediction of magneto-optical measurements

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Materialteori

    Author : Viktor Frilén; [2023]
    Keywords : moke; tmoke; lmoke; pmoke; magneto-optical effects; layered media; dielectric function; maxwells equations; dielectric tensor; linear respons; magnetism; light induced transistions; DFT; SO;

    Abstract : The interplay of experiments and theory is essential to deepen our understanding of magnetization dynamics. This thesis aims to serve as a bridge between these two aspects by establishing a mathematical framework that enables the computation of optical observable quantities based on theoretical models. 5. 10. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters.
