  1. 21. Modelling sediment connectivity in Swedish catchments and application for flood prediction of roads.

    University essay from KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Author : Carolina Cantone; [2016]
    Keywords : climate change; flooding; infrastructures; GIS; sediment connectivity; surface runoff; statistical modelling;

    Abstract : Climate changes are predicted to increase precipitation intensities and occurrence of extreme rainfall events in the near future. Scandinavia has been identified as one of the most sensitive regions in Europe to such changes; therefore, an increase in the risk for flooding, landslides and soil erosion is to be expected also in Sweden. 2. 22. The Shortcut Index

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Author : Anton Persson; [2016]
    Keywords : neo4j; ldbc; B tree; oltp; percent of neighborhood interest; range locality; neighborhood locality; graph database; labeled property graph; graph density; neighborhood density; path index; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : With a novel path index design, called the Shortcut Index, we partially solve the problem of executing traversal queries on dense neighborhoods in a graph database. We implement our design on top of the graph database Neo4j but it could be used for any graph database that uses the labeled property graph model. READ MORE

  3. 23. Do national and entrepreneurial framework conditions influence economic growth? : Using path analysis (PA) on the example of Nordic countries between the years 2005-2014

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för organisation och entreprenörskap (OE)

    Author : Andrea Slabenakova; [2016]
    Keywords : Economic Growth; GCI; GEM; path analysis;

    Abstract : This paper investigates whether national and entrepreneurial framework conditions positively affect economic growth via its effects on entrepreneurial activity more significantly than via its effects on technological innovation intensity1 . The revised GEM conceptual model is tested for a sample of Nordic countries (Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland), between the years 2005-2014, using path analysis. READ MORE

  4. 24. Development of Light Transmission Techniques for Quantification of CO2 Trapping in Porous Media

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Jonathan Udén; [2015]
    Keywords : Light transmission; CO2 storage; modelling; model; hydrogeology; Ljusgenomsläpp; koldioxidlagring; modellering; modell; hydrogeologi;

    Abstract : Light transmission can be used to measure the amounts of certain constituents within a system by analyzing the amount of light they have absorbed. The aim of this study was to improve methods for light transmission measurements in two phase systems. READ MORE

  5. 25. Algorithmic Construction of Fundamental Polygons for Certain Fuchsian Groups

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Matematik och tillämpad matematik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : David Larsson; [2015]
    Keywords : Compact Riemann surfaces and uniformization; Fuchsian groups and automorphic functions; Hyperbolic geometry; Topological groups; Permutation groups; Computational methods; Covering spaces; branched coverings; Generators; relations; and presentations;

    Abstract : The work of mathematical giants, such as Lobachevsky, Gauss, Riemann, Klein and Poincaré, to name a few, lies at the foundation of the study of the highly structured Riemann surfaces, which allow definition of holomorphic maps, corresponding to analytic maps in the theory of complex analysis. A topological result of Poincaré states that every path-connected Riemann surface can be realised by a construction of identifying congruent points in the complex plane, the Riemann sphere or the hyperbolic plane; just three simply connected surfaces that cover the underlying Riemann surface.
