  1. 1. Parametric investigation of a theoretical organic rankine cycle

    University essay from Mälardalens universitet/Akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknik

    Author : Jim Wernersson; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The energy resource waste heat or low-grade thermal energy is available in vast quantities. Tapping into this resource and converting it to electrical energy would not only reduce energy waste but also has the potential to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Reliability and Cost-Benefit Analysis of the Battery Energy Storage System

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Dita Anggraini; [2023]
    Keywords : Battery Energy Storage System; Cost-Benefit Analysis; Prediction Methods; Reliability Analysis; Batterienergilagringssystem; Förutsägelsemetoder; Kostnads-nyttoanalys; Tillförlitlighetsanalys;

    Abstract : The battery energy storage system (BESS) is crucial for the energy transition and decarbonisation of the energy sector. However, reliability assessment and capital cost challenges can hinder their widespread deployment. READ MORE

  3. 3. First principles investigation of the thermal conductivity of Zr, ZrC, and ZrN

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Daniel Karlsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Electron-phonon interaction; Density functional theory; Boltzmann transport equation; first-principles; thermal conductivity; electrical resistivity; Abinit; Phono3py; Elektron-fononväxelverkan; täthetsfunktionalteori; Boltzmanns transportekvation; värmeledningsförmåga; elektrisk resistivitet; Abinit; Phono3py;

    Abstract : The thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity of Zr, ZrC, and ZrN were calculated using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) and the Boltzmann transport equation. The electron-phonon scattering was modeled via the self-energy relaxation time approximation (SERTA), and the phonon-phonon scattering via the analogous single-mode relaxation time approximation (SMRTA). 4. 4. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 5. 5. Flexible Sector Coupling (FSC) of Electrical and Thermal Sectors via Thermal Energy Storage (TES) : A Case Study on Oskarshamn Energi

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Raúl Calvo García; Jose María Marín Arcos; [2023]
    Keywords : Flexible sector coupling FSC ; district heating DH ; thermal energy storage TES ; heat pump HP ; capacity optimization; dispatch optimization; open-access tools; Flexibel sektorkoppling; fjärrvärme; termisk energilagring; värmepump; kapacitetsoptimering; leveransoptimering; verktyg med öppen tillgång;

    Abstract : The integration of distributed energy sources and systems is of high relevance for the transition towards a more sustainable energy system. Taking into consideration the  amount of emissions produced by the heating sector, which account for at least half of the energy demand in buildings, district heating systems have the potential to play a key role in the transition, by enabling the integration of various energy sources and provide flexible energy services to the grid.
