  1. 1. First principles investigation of the thermal conductivity of Zr, ZrC, and ZrN

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Daniel Karlsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Electron-phonon interaction; Density functional theory; Boltzmann transport equation; first-principles; thermal conductivity; electrical resistivity; Abinit; Phono3py; Elektron-fononväxelverkan; täthetsfunktionalteori; Boltzmanns transportekvation; värmeledningsförmåga; elektrisk resistivitet; Abinit; Phono3py;

    Abstract : The thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity of Zr, ZrC, and ZrN were calculated using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) and the Boltzmann transport equation. The electron-phonon scattering was modeled via the self-energy relaxation time approximation (SERTA), and the phonon-phonon scattering via the analogous single-mode relaxation time approximation (SMRTA). 2. 2. The Influence of Roughness on Electrical Properties of Single Rock Fractures

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Yu Hou; [2023]
    Keywords : Single fracture; Roughness; Current; Electrical properties; Relative standard deviation; Numerical simulations; Enkelfraktur; Grovhet; Ström; Elektriska egenskaper; Relativ standardavvikelse; Numeriska simuleringar;

    Abstract : To investigate the relationship between the structural characteristics of rough single fracturesand the electrical properties of the rock. In this study, a series of physical models of roughand smooth single fractures were established using the finite element method and Ohm's lawto test the electrical conductivity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluating the potential of artificial infiltration to increase groundwater storage using MIKE SHE : A case study in northern Storsudret, Gotland

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Sara Schmidt; Per Uppsäll; [2020]
    Keywords : Groundwater modelling; hydrogeology; aquifer assessment; freshwater resources;

    Abstract : The island of Gotland, Sweden, is struggling with supplying the population with freshwater during summers. At the same time as the demand increases during these months, the warm weather and geological conditions prevent sufficient volumes of groundwater to recharge. READ MORE

  4. 4. A geophysical survey in the Chocaya Basin in the central Valley of Cochabamba, Bolivia, using ERT and TEM

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Hannes Pilser; [2020]
    Keywords : ERT; TEM; geophysics; Cochabamba; aquifer; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The Chocaya Basin is situated in the north-western part of the Valley of Cochabamba, Bolivia, where a semi-arid climate prevails. The increasing population is dependent on local aquifers for drinking water and irrigation. Wells are used to extract water. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mapping of contaminant dispersion from a polluted mining area by geochemical and geophysical methods, Rävlidmyran,northern Sweden : Use of geochemical and geophysical studies to investigate contaminants

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Astrid Theander; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : After open pit mining, the pit can either be backfilled or be filled with groundwater andbecome a pit lake. These lakes tend to be acidic and contains high concentrations ofmetals, which increases the environmental risks in the area. One of these pit lakes isRävlidmyran in the Skellefte ore district.
