  1. 11. Modelling of Collisionless Alpha-particle Confinement in Tokamaks

    University essay from KTH/Fusionsplasmafysik

    Author : Tomas Lycken; [2015]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A collisionless model for fast-ion transport in a tokamak reactor is derived from first principles, and a new orbitfollowing code is developed to simulate this model. Results from the model applied on two scenarios of DT fusion plasmas, one from ITER and one from JET, are compared, and the prompt losses as well as the effects of orbit shapes are quantified; it is shown that both the prompt losses and the orbit effect on confined particles are very small in both reactors. 2. 12. Measurements of electric fields in a plasma by Stark mixing induced Lyman-α radiation

    University essay from Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Author : Petter Ström; [2013]
    Keywords : Plasma diagnostic; electric field measurement; non-intrusive; Stark effect; Lyman-alpha; hyperfine structure; H 2s ; cesium vapour;

    Abstract : This paper treats a non-intrusive method of measuring electric fields in plasmas and other sensitive or hostile environments. The method is based on the use of an atomic hydrogen beam prepared in the metastable fine structure quantum state 2s1/2. READ MORE

  3. 13. Modelling of Dust Transport in Reverse Field Pinch Configuration

    University essay from KTH/Rymd- och plasmafysik

    Author : Jean-Philippe Banon; [2013]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The DDFTU code has been modified and updated to study the transport of dust in the reverse field pinch (RFP) EXTRAP-T2R. The DDFTU code solves the coupled equations of charging, heating and motion of a dust grain immersed in a plasma whose profiles are given. READ MORE

  4. 14. Dynamics of metallic dust particles in tokamak edge plasmas

    University essay from KTH/Rymd- och plasmafysik

    Author : Ladislas Tancrède Raymond Vignichouk; [2013]
    Keywords : Plasma physics; dust; tokamak edge plasma;

    Abstract : The study of dust dynamics in tokamaks has been carried out by means of the DDFTU numericalcode solving the coupled equations of motion, charging and heat balance for a dust grainimmersed in plasmas with given profiles. The code has been updated to include (i) a non-steadystate heat balance model and phase transitions, (ii) geometrical properties of the vessel suchas gaps, (iii) realistic boundary conditions for dust-wall collisions. 5. 15. Development of Resistive MHD Code in Cylindrical Geometry and its Applications on EXTRAP T2R

    University essay from KTH/Fusionsplasmafysik

    Author : Cristian Gleason-González; [2012]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A resistive magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) code is presented in detail for a cylindrical plasma column surrounded by a perfect conducting wall. The objective is to develop a full eigenvalue problem solver with resistive wall type boundary conditions that can be integrated into the feedback control algorithms of the EXTRAP T2R reversed field pinch (RFP).
