Redesigning training report application : A qualitative study on user experience

University essay from Karlstads universitet/Handelshögskolan

Abstract: IdrottOnline is a system that provide a funding organisation information about athlete’s activities in different sport clubs. A sport club can apply for financial funding from this organisation and use a provided application to report their activities and the attending athletes. These reports are then calculated and the sport clubs gets money according to the amount of attending athletes. It is large amounts of money given to the sport clubs and therefor important for the coaches to be able to report the athletes presence easily with few mistakes. The objective of the study is to design a software solution to report on athletes’ training that has functionality to support athletes, coaches and funding organisations. The method used is a qualitative interview survey with complimentary observations on the same participants, ending with ad hoc testing on the analysed system. The main thing found in the application were related to group handling that the system required but did not exist in the real world. It is also concluded that an interview survey is not sufficient to evaluate the user experience in a software system.
