Abstract: This thesis aimsto identify and propose suitable product architecture views in order to facilitate efficient cross-functional communication and collaboration on architecture-related tasks. It thereby focuses on the relationships between components of a system while determining a suitable level of detailing which is called level of abstraction for the relationships the components share. There is abundant information present such as relationships between hardware component, component specific information and ECU modules in specific and separate documents/files but there is no single representation model which gives holistic representation for vehicular system at SCANIA. Hence, the determined levels of abstraction are implemented onto a representation model to visualize the systems. Key findings during the course of the work in this thesis project includes identifying a suitable level of abstraction for the relationships information, method to reduce the cognitive complexity in the representation models followed by getting to know if the proposed representation model is suitable for the relevant personnel/teams to visualize and obtain information. A case study was made and evaluation was done through means of a questionnaire and an evaluation table provided to the employees in the mentioned teams at the Research and Development department of SCANIA CV AB. The results upon implementation have indicated that the work done has a good level of utility.
