Political mobilisation through public deliberation : a case study of three German environmental NGOs

Abstract: In this master thesis I am integrating ideas on the mobilisation of political engagement with the concept of deliberative democracy to enhance the practical applicability of public deliberation in contexts such as environmental advocacy campaigns. I explore the degree to which environmental campaigns of three German environmental NGOs use public deliberation in order to bring about a more active citizenship and produce political pressure for progressive policy change.
