    Abstract : In this study, I analyse Shakespeare’s revenge tragedy Hamlet with a Bakhtinian close reading. Using Bakhtinian concepts, such as carnival, dialogism, polyphony and heteroglossia, together with contextualising materials, I analyse Shakespeare’s use of ambiguous language as contextual communication.
