  1. 16. Hierarchical Clustering in Risk-Based Portfolio Construction

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Natasha Nanakorn; Elin Palmgren; [2021]
    Keywords : Portfolio construction; asset allocation; risk-based asset allocation; hierarchical clustering; agglomerative clustering; hierarchical risk parity; risk; volatility; Portföljallokering; portföljhantering; portföljmetoder; riskbaserad portföljallokering; hierarkisk klustring; agglomerativ klustring; risk; volatilitet;

    Abstract : Following the global financial crisis, both risk-based and heuristic portfolio construction methods have received much attention from both academics and practitioners since these methods do not rely on the estimation of expected returns and as such are assumed to be more stable than Markowitz's traditional mean-variance portfolio. In 2016, Lopéz de Prado presented the Hierarchical Risk Parity (HRP), a new approach to portfolio construction which combines hierarchical clustering of assets with a heuristic risk-based allocation strategy in order to increase stability and improve out-of-sample performance. 2. 17. Graph Complexity Based on a Heuristic That Involves the Algorithmic Complexity Behaviour of Multiplex Networks on Graphs

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Hasan Kalzi; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Since determining the complexity of multiplex networks is an NP-hard problem, I decided to calculate the complexity of graphs using heuristics. I am the first in this path who did these kinds of calculations. I always wanted to define complexity as a mathematical characteristic in the structure of graphs. READ MORE

  3. 18. Designing gamification to increase engagement for the software solution KLAR

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi

    Author : Nicoline Kjaer Helgstrand; [2021]
    Keywords : Gamification; Engagement; Octalysis; Iterative design; Usability evaluation; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : With the increasing portfolio of options when looking for new mobile apps and web tools their is a need to excel. One of the possible solutions is to capture and hold on to the users by introducing gamification that motivates the user and gives them the opportunity to feel more engaged with a product. READ MORE

  4. 19. An usability evaluation of TRIO’s e- learning modules enhancing the communication between cancer patients, clinicians and carers

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Melanie Bonnaudet; [2020]
    Keywords : Usability; user experience; think- alouds; heuristic evaluation; e- learning; medical teaching.;

    Abstract : The involvement of carers in oncology is important for the health of people diagnosed with cancer as well as carers themselves. To improve their involvement, three groups; patients, their carers, and  clinicians should maintain good communication. The e-learning interface, eTRIO, has a learning module for each of these three groups. READ MORE

  5. 20. Automatic Pronoun Resolution for Swedish

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Camilla Ahlenius; [2020]
    Keywords : Pronoun resolution; Mitkov’s algorithm; Support Vector Machine; Supervised learning; SVM-Light-TK; Tree kernels; Dependency trees; Word embeddings; Pronomenbestämning; Mitkovs algoritm; Stödvektormaskin; Övervakad inlärning; SVM-Light-TK; Trädkärnor; Dependensträd; Ordvektorer;

    Abstract : This report describes a quantitative analysis performed to compare two different methods on the task of pronoun resolution for Swedish. The first method, an implementation of Mitkov’s algorithm, is a heuristic-based method — meaning that the resolution is determined by a number of manually engineered rules regarding both syntactic and semantic information.
