  1. 1. Extension of low voltage distribution by pure DC or mixed AC/DC parts for integration of solar PV and EV charging

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Sofie Jiang; [2022]
    Keywords : LVDC; LVAC; solar PV system; electric vehicle charging station; IKN-regulation; distribution system; RES integration; LVDC; LVAC; solceller; elfordon; laddstolpar; IKN-regelverk; distributionsnät; förnyelsebara energikällor;

    Abstract : This work examines the local distribution system in two residential areas in two Swedish towns, Oxelösund and Karlskrona, and studies how integration of PV systems and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (CS) will affect the present distribution system. The research questions focus on the economic feasibility of a LVDC system, how it compares to a traditional LVAC (low voltage alternating current) system from an economic and technical perspective, and the possibilities a LVDC system brings to other DC component applications. 2. 2. Local energy system - Comparing direct current (LVDC) and alternating current (LVAC)

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Industriell elektroteknik och automation

    Author : Markus Alm; [2020]
    Keywords : Local energy system; LVDC; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis uses a case study to compare the viability of using direct current instead of alternating current to supply power to 5 buildings in a local energy system (LES). The case study sought to show how using LVDC instead of LVAC could increase the effectiveness of solar panels (PV), batteries and interconnecting buildings into a local energy system (LES). 3. 3. Potential of using Low Voltage Direct Current in local distribution network to improve the overall efficiency

    University essay from KTH/Elektriska energisystem

    Author : Pierre Waeckerlé; [2011]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This project reviews the potential of Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) to replace Low Voltage Alternative Current (LVAC) power in distribution grids. The study addresses three different problems: a comparative literature review on LVAC and LVDC systems, a study of the compatibility of the type of low voltage cables that are used in buildings with a future LVDC distribution grid and a technical comparison from transmission and conversion losses point of view.
