  1. 36. Studying Elliptic Flow in High Centrality Pb-Pb Collisions using Proton Collision Background Fitting

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Philip Fredholm; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this report, the elliptic flow in high centrality Pb-Pb collisions is calculated using two particle correlations $v_2\{2\}$ but without any imposed separation in η with data taken from the ALICE experiment at CERN in 2015. Instead, measurements of the same correlations in proton-proton collisions is used as a background to account for non-flow effects and data is correlated between the time projection chamber and the forward multiplicity detectors in order to avoid intra-jet correlations. 2. 37. Plume-Spacecraft Interaction Analysis : Study on the Plume Effects of Hall-Effect Thrusters (HET) and High-Efficiency Multistage Plasma Thrusters (HEMPT).

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Josep Sentís Garzón; [2023]
    Keywords : Electric propulsion; Plasma plume; Plasma physics; SPIS; OpenPlume EP; Modelling; Charge-Exchange Collisions; Elektrisk framdrivning; Plasma plym; Plasmafysik; SPIS; OpenPlume EP; Modellering; Laddningsväxlingskollisioner;

    Abstract : Plume-spacecraft interactions play an important role in the performance and integrity of spacecraft during their missions in space. The study encompasses a thruster’s plume simulation and its impact on spacecraft geometries to understand and predict the effects and consequences of the impingement on spacecraft surfaces, such as erosion, contamination, forces, and torques. 3. 38. Profinite groups

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); Lunds universitet/Matematikcentrum

    Author : Juan Moreno Poncela; [2023]
    Keywords : Profinite Groups; Infinite Galois Theory; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : This thesis provides a comprehensive study of profinite groups, which are fascinating mathematical objects that have attracted significant interest in modern algebraic research. Profinite groups are infinite generalizations of finite groups and share many similarities with them. READ MORE

  4. 39. Non-Diffractive Nuclear Excitations In Angantyr

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Carl Rosenkvist; [2023]
    Keywords : Heavy-ion; non-diffractive; nuclear excitation; secondary interactions; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : To better understand collectivity in high energy physics, the heavy-ion collision model Angantyr was developed to be included in the event generator Pythia. In this model, proton-proton collision phenomenology is extrapolated to heavy-ion collisions without assuming a thermal plasma for particle production. READ MORE

  5. 40. Trigger-Level Multiple Electron Event Classification with LDMX using Artificial Neural Networks

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Jacob Lindahl; [2023]
    Keywords : LDMX; ANN; CNN; GNN; RNN; DM; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Artificial neural networks is a powerful tool for classifying and identifying patterns in large amounts of data. One of the possible tasks of these networks is classification of data into categories. READ MORE
