  1. 21. Study of process parameters in laser beam welding of copper hairpins

    University essay from Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap

    Author : Dan Lönn; David Spångberg; [2022]
    Keywords : Laser Welding; Hairpin Welding; Copper Laser Welding; Process Parameter; Multi-Physical Simulation; Computed Tomography Scan; Design of Experiment;

    Abstract : This study had the purpose to further the use of industrial lasers in the manufacturing of hairpin electric motors by optimizing the process of contacting the hairpins. A problem with laser beam welding of copper is the porosity created in the process which can lead to increased resistance of the welded region along with degraded mechanical properties. READ MORE

  2. 22. Biochar and hemp as peat substitutes in organic growing media : effects on nutrient availability and nutrient uptake

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Malin Nilsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Growing media; substrate; biochar; hemp; peat substitution; nutrient availability; nutrient use efficiency;

    Abstract : This study aimed at evaluating the suitability of biochar and hemp as partial or complete replacement of peat in horticultural growing media, with specific emphasis on the effects on nutrient availability and plant nutrient uptake. The study was motivated by the environmental concerns surrounding the use of peat, along with a desire to explore possible uses for biochar and a crop residue from hemp cultivation. READ MORE

  3. 23. Fatigue Life Prediction of a Topology-Optimised Polyamide-12 Part Manufactured with Multi-Jet Fusion Technology

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanik

    Author : Shylesh Mahendran; [2022]
    Keywords : Fatigue Life; Topology Optimisation; Polyamide-12; PA12; Trötthetsliv; Topologioptimering; Polyamid-12; PA12;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing methods has been prevailing for several decades and the recent technological advancements brings in the flexibility and consideration for large-scale production in the industries. 4. 24. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 5. 25. Measuring Porosity in Ceramic Coating using Convolutional Neural Networks and Semantic Segmentation

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Datorseende

    Author : Filip Isaksson; [2022]
    Keywords : Deep Learning; Image processing; Transfer Learning; Material Science;

    Abstract : Ceramic materials contain several defects, one of which is porosity. At the time of writing, porosity measurement is a manual and time-consuming process performed by a human operator. READ MORE
