  1. 1. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 2. 2. Enhancing the endurance of UAVs by the use of structural power composites: System-level study of a flying wing

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner

    Author : Gustav Burman; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis studies the feasibility of integrating the novelStructural Battery (SB)[1] into the airframe of a UnmannedAerial Vehicle (UAV). The potential advantages in terms ofmass, range and endurance are studied.The aircraft performance is analysed using conventionalflight mechanics, modelled in Matlab and Xfoil. READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermomechanical stress analysis of the main insulation system of traction electrical machines

    University essay from Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för maskinteknik

    Author : Dahman Ismail; Alexis Andrei; [2020]
    Keywords : finite element analysis; thermo-mechanical stress; heavy-duty vehicle; electrical machine; insulation system; coupled-temperature displacement analysis; finita element analys; termomekaniska spänningar; lastbilar; elektriska motorer; isolering; termisk kopplingsförbindelse;

    Abstract : More efficiency heavy-duty vehicles are developed with higher range, updated electronic and mechanical parts. The fuel efficiency and pollution of carbon dioxide need to be lower to achieve new EU regulations. The global population increases with an increased number of heavy-duty vehicles. This, in turn, increases the emission. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evaluation of material properties after laser welding on ductile cast iron

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Olivia Taivalkoski; [2019]
    Keywords : Laser welding; ductile cast iron;

    Abstract : Scania wants to lower the weight of their trucks, including the goal to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions, and one way to do that is to use laser welding instead of fastenings.This bachelor thesis work is about laser welding of ductile cast iron, or spheroidal graphite cast iron or nodular cast iron, to QT-steels and case hardening steel and evaluation of the mechanical properties of the weld.
