  1. 1. A Structural Analysis of the Fracture Sets in Gothenburg, Sweden: A Remote Sensing and Manual Lineament Approach

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Jacek Krysik; [2023-05-22]
    Keywords : Remote sensing; Manual lineament analysis; Fractal analysis; Structural; Regional geology; LiDAR; Gothenburg region;

    Abstract : The fracture-valley landscape within the Gothenburg region was analysed based on LiDAR-derived hillshade images as well as several sources of orthomosaics. Using a manual lineament interpretation approach and complimented with an objective fractal analysis software (FROST), the objective of the study was to characterise the regional fracture sets as well as attempt to link the sets to the complex regional geological history. 2. 2. Character and Evolution of Ore Mineralisation in the Te-Rich Enåsen Au-Cu Deposit, Central Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Simon Pieslinger; [2023]
    Keywords : ore geology; partial melting; quenching textures; symplectite; tellurides; critical metals;

    Abstract : The Enåsen gold deposit is located in Gävleborg county in central Sweden. Mining operations at Enåsen took place from 1984 to 1991 with Au as the main target for exploitation. The deposit has been interpreted as a metamorphosed Palaeoproterozoic analogue to near-recent epithermal Au mineralisations of a high sulphidation type. READ MORE

  3. 3. Epidotization as an Effect of Fluid Rock Interaction, Recorded by a Granitoid From Hågadalen, Uppsala

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Mineralogi, petrologi och tektonik

    Author : Linn Barreby; [2022]
    Keywords : Fluids; Fluid Transport; Metamorphism; Metasomatism; Saussuritization; Epidote Group; Geology; Bedrock; Fluider; Fluidtransport; Metamorfos; Metasomatism; Saussuritisering; Epidot Gruppen; Geologi; Berggrund;

    Abstract : A common driving mechanism of metamorphic processes, from which secondary mineralizations and structures develop in a protolith, is known to be a change of the immediate P-T environment that a rock resides in. A factor in this process, which is poorly understood, however, is how the presence of metamorphic fluids in a system, influences the alteration of primary igneous rocks. READ MORE

  4. 4. Kinetic interpretation of microstructures in the Gällivare area; implications for deformation phases and related metamorphic events.

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Linnéa Jansson Fagerlund; [2021]
    Keywords : Geology; Northern Sweden; Gällivare; Nautanen Deformation Zone; Fjällåsen Deformation Zone; Microstructures;

    Abstract : The goal of this study was to identify and describe different microstructures observed in samples from two major shear zones in the Gällivare area, namely the Nautanen Deformation Zone (NDZ), and the Fjällåsen deformation zone (FDZ). Thirteen samples were examined during this study. READ MORE

  5. 5. Methods for rockfall risk assessment and estimation of runout zones: A case study in Gothenburg, SW Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Laura Catalina Agudelo Motta; [2020]
    Keywords : Rockfall hazard; rockfall simulation; Gothenburg; Fjällbo; runout zones; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Rockfalls occur around Sweden every year and the country lacks a national risk evaluation and an adequate regulatory framework for construction related to this natural hazard. The aim of this study is to address this problem by mapping areas under possible threat of rockfalls, considering two fundamental aspects: i) identification of the source areas and ii) estimation of the runout zones.
