  1. 26. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 2. 27. Market development for multi-story wood construction : views of architects and structural engineers

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Economics

    Author : Isac Färnström; [2022]
    Keywords : architects; back casting; enabling factors; gap-analysis; limiting factors; multi-story wood construction; structural engineer;

    Abstract : The multi-story wood construction industry has been on the rise in the past decades because of new regulations making it legal in Sweden and Finland. Politicians have been suggesting more wood materials in buildings because of the positive environmental impact when wood stores carbon dioxide. READ MORE

  3. 28. Chunk Metabolism : Exploring how to plan for reuse of structural elements

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Isabella Nilsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Architectural elements; urban metabolism; demolition; deconstruction; design process; structural elements; concrete; steel; circular construction; circular economy; material harvesting; urban mining; Arkitektoniska element; urban metabolism; rivning; dekonstruktion; designprocess; tunga stomelement; betong; stål; cirkulärt byggande; cirkulär ekonomi; material harvesting; urban mining;

    Abstract : With a major share of the negative environmental impacts deriving from construction and its waste, ways to reduce the material and energy use in this sector have been the focus of studies for decades. Reuse of building elements and materials is gaining traction with researchers, architects, developers and real estate owners. READ MORE

  4. 29. Parallelisation methods applied to a finite element code

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner, marina system, flyg- och rymdteknik, rörelsemekanik

    Author : Marc Pierre; [2022]
    Keywords : FEM; parallelism; superelement; schur s complement; FEM; parallellitet; superelement; Schurs komplement;

    Abstract : With Moore’s Law being verified, all we had to do was wait a few years to get more computing power. However, this increase in power is no longer exclusively based on the performance of the processor, but more and more on its ability to execute several tasks simultaneously. READ MORE

  5. 30. How Does Skid Design Affect Transportability and Handling of Heavy Machinery?

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Eric Eldensjö; Isidor Söderman-Lundqvist; [2022]
    Keywords : skid mounted machinery; transportability; FEA; lashing and securing; load carrier.; rammonterad maskin; transporterbarhet; FEM-analys; surrning och säkring; lastbärare;

    Abstract : At request of the company Climeon, this study was made regarding transportability of skid mounted heavy machinery. The study aimed to investigate what constraining dimensions there might be when transporting by road and sea as well as necessary features that would accommo date lifting, handling, lashing and securing.
