  1. 16. Development of headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry method for analysis of volatile organic compounds in board samples : Correlation study between chromatographic data and flavor properties

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörs- och kemivetenskaper (from 2013)

    Author : Thea Zethelius; [2021]
    Keywords : Solid phase microextraction SPME ; method development; volatile organic compounds VOCs ; food contact material FCM ; flavor experience; design of experiment DoE ; multivariate analysis;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis work was to develop a headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) method to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in board samples and to statistically investigate potential correlation between chromatographic data and flavor data obtained from a trained panel. The developed method would hopefully serve as a complement to the already established routine analyses at Stora Enso and gain an increased understanding of which VOCs in the board influence its flavor properties. 2. 17. An Investigation of Market Scalability for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs') Filtration Systems : A Case Study within Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Industriell teknik

    Author : Chaitanya Sai Praneeth Kurukundu; Anvesh Reddy Gajjala; [2020]
    Keywords : Volatile Organic Compounds; Formaldehyde; Activated carbon; Thermal sintering; Impregnated catalyst; Efficiency; Indoor Air Quality; Filtration Systems;

    Abstract : With the need for excellent living standards to escalate day by day, the need to breathe good quality air remains of paramount importance for a prosperous, happy life. The indoor air quality picture is improving decade by decade. However, the importance of maintaining good indoor air quality remains unsatisfactory. READ MORE

  3. 18. Development of a GC Method for the Quantification of Short Chain Carboxylic Acids in Aqueous Solution

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Anton Åkervall; [2020]
    Keywords : DAI-GC-FID; Direct Aqueous Injection; Gas Chromatography; Flame Ionization Detector; SCFA; Short Chain Fatty Acids; Formic Acid; Acetic Acid; Lactic Acid; EGR; Exhaust Gas Recirculation; CAC; Charged Air Cooler; FFD; Fractional Factorial Design;

    Abstract : Petroleum powered vehicles emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through combustion that contributes to the pollution of the environment. A technique in the 1970s was developed to decrease these emissions, especially for nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphuric oxides (SOx) which is called exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). READ MORE

  4. 19. Total oxidizable precursor assay: Applications and limitations. A study on the occurrence of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in Chinese Wastewater Treatment Plants

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Pontus Larsson; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Total oxidizable precursor (TOP) assay is an in-lab method which oxidatively converts precursor compounds of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) into measurable perfluorinated alkyl acids (PFAAs). The method is a very strong tool to semi-quantify PFASs that would otherwise be missed in conventional targeted analysis using liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). READ MORE

  5. 20. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry of Volatile Organic Compounds from four Species of Grass Extracts from known Oviposition sites for Malaria Vectors

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Cagenna Linne Magendran; Felicia Karlahag; Amanda Hamrin; Madeleine Lövås; [2020]
    Keywords : VOC; SPE; UAE; terpener; malariavektor;

    Abstract : Tidigare studier har visat att äggläggande malariavektorer attraheras till vissa flyktiga organiska ämnen (VOC) som finns i olika gräsarter. Syftet med den här studien var att verifiera att flyktiga organiska ämnen finns i fyra olika gräsarter från Kenya; Panicum repens,Cynodon dactylon och Cyperus papyrus med Pennisetum setaceum rubrum som kontroll förde andra gräsarterna.
